Xiaomi has announced a relationship with Malaysia’s Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) as part of its worldwide Xiaomi Education strategy. Students from UiTM’s Department of Creative Photomedia engaged in a learning experience through mobile photography, highlighting the unique camera technology co-engineered with Leica in the brand’s Xiaomi 13T Series.
Xiaomi worked with UiTM on a series of hands-on experience activities as part of the Xiaomi Education project. First, Xiaomi and Mr. Sadiq Asyraf, a Malaysian photojournalist and Leica photographer, held an exclusive Masterclass for the students. Sadiq gave great ideas, tips, and tactics on photography and mobile photography, based on his expertise as a photojournalist and photographer.
Xiaomi teamed with UiTM’s Department of Creative Photomedia to create a mobile photography assignment for the Xiaomi 13T Series. The project, titled ‘Celebrating the Essence of Malaysia: Exploring Cultural Diversity and Individual Stories Through Environmental Portraiture,’ was incorporated into the students’ syllabus. Using modern camera technology, the students took intriguing images and filled them with passionate narration. The resulting images were displayed at a photographic exhibition, with the top three students receiving awards from Xiaomi Malaysia for their amazing pictures. This project not only fosters creativity but also incorporates current technology into the educational experience, giving students a platform to express cultural variety and personal narratives via their artistic pursuits.

In total, the collaboration between Xiaomi Malaysia and UiTM amounted to a value of RM 65,000 in industrial grant.

This collaboration underscored the notion that exceptional imagery isn’t solely confined to high-end equipment but instead emphasizes the role of accessible tools, like Xiaomi smartphones, in nurturing creative expression. By embracing these tools, educational institutes can empower students to navigate the artistry of photography without financial barriers and limitations, fostering a deeper connection between technology, creativity, and education.”
