It’s been quite a while waiting for this, as Honor has been recently became an independent company on it’s own, Honor announces the Honor 50, a full fledged Qualcomm powered Android phone with Google Play. The Honor 50 also marks it’s first 5G phone for the Malaysian market. Lets go thru the unboxing of the Honor 50 that we have on hand now.
Contents
The HONOR 50 comes in a white color box. Upon unboxing you will get the following as below
- HONOR 50 phone
- USB A to C charging cable
- 66w Fast Charger
- Soft Case
- SIM Ejector

- User Manual & Quick Start Guide
Do take note that HONOR 50 does not come with USB C to 3.5mm audio adaptor, however they do provide a USB C earphone in the box. On the USB C to 3.5mm adaptor, its pretty easy to get one at any of your favorite phone accessories shop, or if you have a current one lying around from any of the brand or generic ones, you can use it back as well with no issues. It is still comes with a surprise that Honor still provides at least a charger for it’s consumers as some manufacturers stops to include charger in the box
Color Choices
The HONOR 50 comes in four colors, Midnight Black, Emerald Green, Frost Crystal, HONOR Code. The color that we got for the unboxing is the special yet awesome HONOR Code, which is has a very unique HONOR logo all over the back of the phone with smooth textures, and shines when under the light. This is a lightweight phone with a weight of just 175 grams with slight curves on both sides of the display. Overall impression is good so far.
The Design, Look and Feel
The HONOR 50 weighs at 175 Grams, which is considered as a lightweight phone that is packed with reasonable hardware inside, it is fairly easy to hold and use with one hand, with good navigation coverage with one hand usage. The HONOR 50 features a 6.57 inch Curved (both sides) OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate with 300Hz touch sampling rate which makes this phone a very touch accurate phone when it comes to serious productivity and excellent when comes to touch response rate when you are gaming with it. Using it under bright sunlight works fairly well .
Looking at the back of the phone you will spot an island of lenses consisting of one 108MP wide lens, one 8MP ultrawide lens, one 2MP bokeh lens and one 2MP lens with macro capability followed by a camera flash. Over to the front side, which is the main display there is one 32MP wide angle camera. All of the camera in the phone is able to capture wide angle images. Specifically over the rear camera you have a choice of video recording up to 4K resolution at 30FPS, while 1080P capture up to 60FPS with the aspect ratio options of 21:9 or 16:9.
Performance
Over to the performance side, the HONOR 50 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G Octa Core SOC, with 128 or 256GB of internal storage and choice of 6GB or 8GB of RAM. At Such configuration this is a Mid to High tier class processor that ensures it handles the imaging capture and video recording capability with its surrounding competitions with good optimizations over multitasking, gaming and productivity. The 120Hz display will give you the responsiveness you need. On top of that you will also get a pleasant and reasonable audio experience with its bottom and top firing speakers for all entertainment enjoyment.
Overall on my few days of impression with the HONOR 50, it is a phone that is suitable for those who wanted a device that is seeking for it’s VLogging and Multi-recording capabilities, High resolution image capture with multiple modes to select from and a fairly high sensitive touch display over its advantage on it’s gaming performance. At this point of writing we still don’t have the pricing yet, but looking at the specifications listed, likely it will be priced at less than RM1800. Stay tuned with the full review which we will be publishing it soon.
