HyperX, HP Inc.’s gaming peripherals team and brand leader in gaming and esports, today announced the release of its first VTuber, “Himura Kuraudo,” commonly known as Kura.
Kura, the newest member of HyperX’s growing roster of brand ambassadors, will be streaming a variety of content on HyperX’s Twitch channel on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. PST.
VTubing emerged in Japan in the mid-2010s and gained popularity during the pandemic in early 2020, signifying a type of content production presented as a virtual avatar. HyperX recognises the value of this community and the influence it has had on online content providers. This digital world, fueled by independent content creators worldwide, has given a secure area for creators to grow confidence, accept their inner selves, and express creativity through their own avatars. Kura’s concept and design are a direct representation of HyperX’s attempts to include all gamers, online creators, and fans. HyperX is excited to interact with the community even more via Kura.
“I’m excited to work with HyperX and be a part of their growing family. To be brought into this space of immense creativity and uniqueness with my very own persona created in such an authentic way is truly humbling,”
said Kura, VTuber, HyperX
. “I’m thrilled to be a part of an organization that values inclusivity and aims to make a positive impact on others and look forward to collaborating with others and connecting with fans on my journey.”
Kura’s personality and speaking style, like those of other VTubers, were important parts of the creative process in order for her to be real in the community. In order to produce a high-quality HyperX avatar with distinguishing characteristics, HyperX recognised the project’s complexities and enlisted the assistance of various independent artists, including well-known illustrator and designer Rosuuri, who has a distinct and recognisable style. Furthermore, the model artwork was built by the freelance group Iron Vertex, who brought Kura to life with a range of animated facial emotions and movement details.
Furthermore, the HyperX team intended to fit with company values, the HyperX brand, and its gaming community while naming Kura. The name “Kuraudo” is romaji meaning “cloud,” a reference to HyperX’s first prominent headset, Cloud. Kura’s surname “Himura” translates to “dark red, scarlet,” as well as “town, village,” which corresponds to HyperX’s trademark colours and humble beginnings. Kura will represent the essence of HyperX’s tagline, “We’re All Gamers,” through the content she develops.
Kura was created to interact with individuals who have the same gaming hobbies while also fostering positivity, inclusion, and generosity throughout the community.
