ASUS ROG Malaysia has announced the local pricing, features, and availability of its new ROG Strix SCAR and ROG Strix G high-performance gaming laptops. The Strix SCAR 16, Strix SCAR 18, Strix G16, and Strix G18 all get new designs, while the Strix SCAR 17 and Strix G17 get improved internals. These powerful laptops are ready to power triumphs among esports pros and gaming aficionados alike when coupled with ROG’s Nebula and Nebula HDR screens and an improved Intelligent Cooling thermal system.
Top-level CPUs and GPUs
The Strix series, ROG’s highest-performing laptops, are powered by the latest and best CPUs from Intel, AMD, and NVIDIA. The Strix SCAR 16 and 18 are powered by an Intel CoreTM i9-13980HX CPU with 24 cores and 32 threads, as well as an NVIDIA GeForce RTXTM 4090 Laptop GPU with up to 175 watts of power, for a total system power of 240 W. When plugged in, a MUX Switch with NVIDIA Advanced Optimus automatically provides optimal framerates and greater battery life when untethered. The Intel Core i9-13980HX CPU and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Laptop GPU with up to 175 W of power using Dynamic Boost and MUX Switch with Advanced Optimus power the Strix G16 and G18.
ROG is also releasing new versions of the Strix SCAR 17 and Strix G17. The 2023 Strix SCAR 17 includes an AMD Ryzen 9 Zen 4 CPU as well as an NVIDIA® GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU, whilst the Strix G17 includes an NVIDIA® GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU as well as the same processor. Both versions use the same Advanced Optimus-powered MUX Switch as the 16- and 18-inch variants.
Upgraded Intelligent Cooling solutions
The new 16- and 18-inch Strix laptops include an all-new Intelligent Cooling suite, which includes ROG’s Tri-Fan Technology, which was originally seen on the 2022 Flow X16. Furthermore, we expanded the Flow X16’s full-width heatsink for the 2023 Strix SCAR 16, Strix SCAR 18, Strix G16, and Strix G18. When combined with our new full-surround vents, this bigger heatsink improves surface area for heat dissipation by up to 92.23% over 2022 versions. ROG’s revolutionary solution, which includes Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal on both the CPU and GPU and 7 heat pipes, enables higher-than-ever TGPs for this year’s next-generation CPUs and GPUs.
Eye-popping displays
The new 16-inch and 18-inch Strix workstations from 2023 don’t only have bigger 16:10 displays. Every model is also available with one of ROG’s ground-breaking Nebula panels, which provide a quick, bright, and vivid image that outperforms normal gaming laptops for a totally immersive experience. Nebula displays must have high refresh rates, a reaction time of 3ms or fewer, at least 500 nits of brightness, and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour space, so consumers don’t have to sift through spec sheets to know their display is top-notch. All 2023 ROG Strix computers are available with QHD 240 Hz screens.
The Strix SCAR 16 is also available with a stunning Nebula HDR display, which meets those requirements and more with a Mini LED screen with 1,024 separate zones for incredible contrast. This display, along with up to 1100 nits of peak brightness, gives exceptional HDR image quality in one of the year’s most powerful gaming laptops.
