• The implementation of advanced “password-less” technology will enable OPPO users to benefit from quicker, more practical, and more secure logins across various accounts, services, and platforms in place of conventional password-based authentication systems.

The FIDO (Fast Identity Online) Alliance, an open industry group with the goal of creating authentication standards that lessen the world’s need on passwords, welcomed OPPO as a member of the Alliance today.

OPPO will assist in the development and adoption of the most recent FIDO standards for “password-less” logins. These standards will make use of public passkey cryptography and the FIDO-defined protocols to give users quick, simple, and secure sign-in experiences across services. To reduce the over-reliance on password-only logins with various services, OPPO will also work collaboratively with other Alliance members to develop and promote FIDO Authentication certifications.

Today’s typical internet user has dozens of online accounts, making it difficult and time-consuming for both consumers and enterprises to manage a huge number of passwords.

However, password-only authentication techniques have a number of serious drawbacks. In addition to the significant security dangers posed by using the same password across many accounts and weak passwords, they include the high administrative expenses associated with password resets and changes for users

As a result, there have been demands for the technology sector to transition to a sign-in system that can lessen or possibly completely replace the need for passwords.

This is where FIDO Alliance comes in. Established in 2012, to lessen the overuse of passwords globally, seeks to create standards for password-free identity authentication and login for websites, services, and apps. The newest authentication protocol from the Alliance, FIDO2, offers a safe and practical technological foundation that is backed by organisations like Google, Microsoft, and Qualcomm.

After joining the FIDO Alliances, OPPO will actively deploy FIDO standards on its smart devices and endeavour to improve authentication security and user experiences. Users will soon be able to use their OPPO smartphones as a “passkey” to sign in to various services across platforms, applications, and browsers, which will assist to create a seamless connected experience.

Users can access their FIDO credentials on the core OPPO device when using multiple smart devices, including brand-new devices and nearby devices belonging to others, without having to re-enroll in all of their accounts on different OS platforms or browsers.

As a FIDO Alliance member, OPPO will participate in the various technical and regional FIDO working groups. Through these groups, OPPO will contribute technical expertise to expanding the adoption of password-free login technology across additional use cases and services.

Finally, OPPO will collaborate with partners from across the industry to provide more easy and secure password-free connected experiences that allow new intelligent experiences for more people through its brand promise of “Inspiration Ahead.”
