ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG), in partnership with Xbox, has announced the next evolution in handheld gaming: the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X. Designed from the ground up to offer seamless PC and Xbox gaming experiences in a handheld form factor, these devices combine cutting-edge performance with all-day comfort and intuitive software.
Ergonomics Engineered for Gamers
The new chassis has been reimagined to deliver a gamepad-style grip that feels like a true controller. This player-first design includes a textured palm rest and ergonomically contoured grips, ideal for marathon sessions. The ROG Xbox Ally X also adds impulse triggers, delivering more immersive and responsive haptics—perfect for high-impact gameplay.

The Best of Xbox and Windows in One Handheld
In collaboration with Xbox, ROG developed a custom software suite that launches directly into a full-screen Xbox interface, while still running Windows 11 under the hood. Users enjoy seamless joystick navigation, instant access to Game Bar widgets, and easy control customization.

This hybrid software approach allows players to enjoy both Xbox Game Pass titles and traditional PC games with full access to mods, emulators, and third-party platforms.
Next-Gen Power with AMD Ryzen Z2 Processors
The ROG Xbox Ally is powered by the AMD Ryzen™ Z2 A Processor, optimized for low-power, high-efficiency gaming. For more demanding players, the ROG Xbox Ally X features the flagship AMD Ryzen™ AI Z2 Extreme Processor, paired with a powerful NPU to support future AI innovations.
“Battery life is paramount on handhelds,” explained Jack Huynh, SVP and GM at AMD. “The Ryzen Z2 series brings next-gen performance with improved efficiency.”
Both models support advanced AMD graphics technologies like:
- FidelityFX™ Super Resolution (FSR)
- Radeon Super Resolution (RSR)
- AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) for smoother frame rates
The Ally X also includes a larger 60Wh battery, supporting more demanding gaming sessions without sacrificing mobility.
