Huawei Malaysia has signed four new Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with key local partners to accelerate AI adoption and digital transformation in Malaysia. The agreements, announced during a ceremony witnessed by Malaysia’s Minister of Digital, YB Gobind Singh Deo, and HE Lan Tianli, Governor of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, mark a major step forward in Malaysia’s ambitions to become a regional tech powerhouse.
The collaborations bring together Huawei’s advanced AI, cloud computing, and digital infrastructure technologies with the on-ground expertise of Malaysian companies across multiple sectors.
Transforming E-Commerce and Loyalty Platforms
Huawei Malaysia and TOGL Technology Sdn Bhd will co-develop an AI-driven e-commerce and loyalty platform. The partnership will blend Huawei’s AI capabilities with TOGL’s market knowledge to create smarter, more efficient customer experiences for Malaysia’s growing digital marketplace.
Launching Sovereign AI Cloud Infrastructure
In a landmark move, Skyvast Cloud Sdn Bhd and Huawei Malaysia will roll out the first Sovereign AI Cloud infrastructure outside of China. Using Huawei’s Ascend GPUs, Kunpeng servers, and cloud networking technologies, the partnership aims to drive AI adoption across Malaysia and the wider ASEAN region. Skyvast will spearhead business development and use-case strategies.
Modernising Logistics with AI and Cloud
To digitise the supply chain, Tiong Nam Logistics Solutions Sdn Bhd will collaborate with Huawei Malaysia to embed AI and cloud solutions into warehousing and logistics operations. Huawei will provide the technical backbone, while Tiong Nam will lead system design and implementation.
Enabling AI-Powered Smart Government Services
Huawei Malaysia, HeiTech Padu Berhad, and MY E.G. Services (MyEG) will work together to explore AI-integrated solutions for government services, including immigration and transport. Huawei will supply the necessary cloud platforms, AI infrastructure, and support for implementation.
Academic Collaborations Between Malaysia and China
The event also witnessed the exchange of MoUs between:
- Guilin University of Electronic Technology and Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah
- Guangxi Minzu University and Tunku Abdul Rahman University
These initiatives aim to enhance research collaboration, knowledge transfer, and innovation between the two nations.
Driving National AI Strategy
These partnerships align with the National AI Office (NAIO) strategy to fast-track AI implementation and cement Malaysia’s status as a regional digital leader. The MoU ceremony, held at Pullman Kuala Lumpur City Centre, gathered top leaders from both the private sector and academia in Malaysia and China.
