In a move that marks its first eWallet integration in Southeast Asia, Google has officially rolled out support for ShopeePay and TNG eWallet (an Alipay+ Partner) within Google Pay for Android users in Malaysia. The integration enables seamless, secure payments via mobile browsers such as Google Chrome across participating online merchants.
This new feature allows Malaysians to checkout with their preferred eWallets directly on mobile sites, eliminating the need to switch apps during payment. Additionally, users can now top up their eWallets through Google Pay, with balance-viewing capabilities coming soon.
With 88% of Malaysians using eWallets in 2024, the move positions Google Pay to cater to Malaysia’s fast-evolving digital payment landscape and broaden financial inclusion, particularly among the underbanked population.
“We are excited to bring this new Google Pay feature first to Malaysia,” said Farhan S. Qureshi, Country Director for Google Malaysia. “By integrating with trusted platforms like ShopeePay and TNG eWallet, we’re delivering a localised, frictionless, and secure payment experience.”
How It Works:

- During checkout, users can choose the Google Pay button or select “eWallet” in Chrome.
- One-time verification is required for first-time users, enabling one-click payments afterward.
- Users can top up ShopeePay or TNG eWallet directly via Google Pay, with secure fingerprint or PIN-based transaction verification.
- Supported merchants include Nando’s, US Pizza, Alpro Pharmacy, TK Bakery, and Yoyo Bus, via payment partners Fiuu and iPay88.
This initiative reflects Google’s continued effort to bring convenience, security, and inclusivity to digital payments across Malaysia, setting the stage for broader adoption across Southeast Asia.
