Recently, the ZTE Nubia V70 Max has entered the market for low-cost smartphones with the goal of offering modest updated features without going beyond price. This device delivers a remarkable combination of performance, durability, and battery life, and it costs RM399 in Malaysia. In this review, we will be covering some of the core features to see if it is really a phone for everyone.

Design and Build

Designed with resilience in mind, the Nubia V70 Max boasts a SUS304 steel plate middle frame and a front cover made from Aluminum-Titanium Alloy Die Casting. This construction enables the phone to withstand drops from up to 1.5 meters, making it ideal for users seeking a sturdy device. Available in Lake Green and Galactic Gray, the phone’s aesthetic is both modern and practical. Overall the phone is weighted at 195 grams with thickness measured at 8.3mm, which is my personal opinion not the slimmest of all, but definitely still on par when compared to the other phones out there.

Display

The device features a 6.9-inch HD+ display with a 60Hz/90Hz/120Hz selectable refresh rate, ensuring smooth visuals during daily use. While the resolution is standard for its class, the high refresh rate is a notable addition, enhancing the overall user experience. The only minor downside that it only houses a HD+ display that might make the display less appeal over display, as it uses IPS level display but the large display size makes up for it, making it a more wider viewing estate.

Performance & Software

Under the hood, the Nubia V70 Max is powered by a Unisoc T606 (12 nm) processor, coupled with 6GB of RAM and an additional 6GB of virtual RAM, totaling 12GB. This configuration ensures smooth multitasking and efficient performance for everyday applications. The device also offers 128GB of internal storage, providing ample space for apps, photos, and media. Should you need more space, there is still a MicroSD slot which allows you to have additional expansion up to another 1TB storage. The only downside to the storage that it uses EMMC flash, which could slow down on app loading times.

Lets get on to the software, the nubia V70 Max is based on MyOS 15 with Android 15 which is definitely a welcomed positive advantage, which is among some of the budget phones available in the market with the latest OS and security patches, and ZTE will keep updating on the software update on a quarterly basis that is perfectly reasonable given the fact that this is a budgeted phone.

Benchmarks

As usual, the phone is basically fitted with a budget set of SOC, but based on the results, it is still capable of multitasking with multiple apps at the same time, but do not expect the likes from sightlier expensive phones in the market, as ZTE’s objective is to make this phone accessible to everyone.

Camera

For photography enthusiasts, the phone is equipped with a dual rear camera setup, featuring a 50MP primary sensor and a 2MP macro sensor. On the front, there’s an 8MP camera for selfies and video calls. While the camera system is modest, it is adequate for casual photography and social media sharing. For the most part, the camera sensor can snap good results out during day time, and just normal images with some noise during night time, or darker environment shots.

Over to the video, as it is not a surprise, the phone can only record up to 1080P 30FPS, which is good enough for most of the social media quick uploads.

Battery Life

One of the standout features of the Nubia V70 Max is its massive 6,000mAh battery, designed to provide extended usage without frequent recharging at 22.5w rapid charging rate. This large battery capacity ensures that users can go through their day with confidence, even under heavy usage scenarios.

Durability and Longevity

The device has undergone testing by SGS, indicating a smooth performance lifespan of up to 50 months. This suggests that the Nubia V70 Max is built not only to withstand physical wear and tear, including drop resistance but also to maintain its performance over time.

Verdict & Conclusion

Rating

For those looking for a robust and reasonably priced smartphone, the ZTE Nubia V70 Max presents an alluring package. Its sturdy construction, large display, respectable performance, and long-lasting battery make it a good choice for consumers who value dependability and practicality. While it may not compete with high-end devices in terms of advanced features, it stands out in its price range, making it a worthy consideration for budget-conscious consumers for just RM399.
