Prepare to be captivated by the immersive world of “Maya,” the theme for this year’s IMMERSIO, opening at GMBB from 22 November to 22 December 2024. Presented by Filamen, the festival draws on Southeast Asia’s rich cultural and artistic heritage, bringing together innovative artists and collectives to explore themes of illusion, magic, and technology in new media art.
The Sanskrit-inspired theme, “Maya,” meaning illusion or magic, invites audiences to reconnect with myths, history, and the environment in a space where storytelling and technology merge. This year’s IMMERSIO brings together new media collectives from across the region, including Kapallorek (Malaysia), Command.io (Malaysia/Singapore), GengRambutan (Indonesia), 084visual (Vietnam), LIVEHUMANSUBJECT (Singapore), and others, reflecting the vibrancy of contemporary Southeast Asian art.
