Samsung Electronics is enhancing the security of its AI-powered home appliances with its proprietary Samsung Knox platform, offering increased protection for both individual devices and interconnected systems. Announced at the Samsung Developer Conference 2024 (SDC24), the company will extend the Knox Matrix solution from mobile devices and TVs to home appliances, improving security for smart homes.
The Knox Matrix platform integrates blockchain technology to allow devices to mutually monitor for threats and notify users of any issues. This system includes Trust Chain, which enables devices to check each other’s security, Cross Platform, ensuring security across different operating systems, and Credential Sync, which securely synchronizes data between devices using encryption.
Additionally, Samsung plans to introduce biometric authentication for its home appliances next year, eliminating the need for passwords. Users will be able to log in using Passkey, a biometric solution that enhances both security and convenience.
Knox Vault will also be applied to store sensitive data such as passwords and biometrics on dedicated hardware chips, ensuring protection from potential OS-based breaches or physical hacks.
Samsung’s commitment to security is recognized globally, with several products, including the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo™ and Bespoke Jet Bot Combo™ AI, receiving top ratings in security from UL Solutions. As the connected ecosystem grows, Samsung continues to innovate, aiming to provide users with secure, AI-powered home experiences.
