Studio releases online multiplayer first-person shooter ahead of its 15th anniversary

Full-service game developer and publisher Double Eleven has proudly announced the launch of its first original intellectual property (IP), Blindfire, an online multiplayer first-person shooter that throws players into intense battles in total darkness. The game, revealed during the latest Xbox Partner Preview, is now available on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store) for MYR24.50, with a PlayStation 5 version set to release later this year.

This milestone comes during a successful year for Double Eleven, which expanded to a new headquarters in March, supporting its growth to 440 employees. Over the past year, the studio played a pivotal role in helping prestigious partners bring their popular games to new platforms while developing fresh content for live titles across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Now, with the release of Blindfire, Double Eleven is showcasing its first fully original creation, collaboratively developed by its teams in the UK and Malaysia. Known for its expertise in co-development, the studio has long aimed to create its own IP, offering a platform to highlight its creativity.

Mark South, COO of Double Eleven, stated, “The release of Blindfire is a moment of immense pride for us. While we’ve built a reputation for co-developing and expanding beloved titles like Minecraft Dungeons, Prison Architect, and Fallout 76, Blindfire is our own creation, a testament to the creativity, talent, and ambition of our team. This is a natural evolution of the work we’ve been doing, bringing fresh ideas to life with the same care and expertise.”

Blindfire brings a unique twist to the arena shooter genre by immersing players in pitch-black battlefields, where stealth, sound, and strategy are crucial for survival. Players must rely on their senses and tactics to outmaneuver opponents, as every shot fired could expose their position. With dynamic, trap-filled arenas, tense combat, and a neon-infused art style, Blindfire delivers an adrenaline-charged experience, setting it apart from traditional shooters. Currently in early access, the game will evolve through regular updates, introducing new weapons, abilities, and features, shaped by community feedback.

In support of the local gaming industry, Double Eleven will be the headline sponsor of Animex 2024, an international festival for animation, games, and VFX hosted by Teesside University. Those interested in placement programs and career opportunities are invited to meet the team at the Animex marketplace on 13 November 2024.

As Double Eleven approaches its 15th anniversary in December 2024, the studio will celebrate a decade and a half of growth and creativity. Stay tuned for upcoming anniversary events and activities.
