The OPPO Reno12 Pro is the latest addition to OPPO’s popular Reno series, continuing the brand’s tradition of delivering premium design, strong performance, and impressive camera capabilities at a more accessible price. Positioned as a mid-range contender with several flagship-level features, the Reno12 Pro stands out as a stylish and powerful smartphone that offers a lot of value.

Design and Build Quality

The OPPO Reno12 Pro is a visual standout with its sleek, premium design. The phone boasts a glass front and back, framed by aluminum dual tone looks, which gives it a polished, high-end feel. The smooth finish on the back panel not only looks sophisticated but also helps resist fingerprints, maintaining its elegant appearance throughout daily use.

The phone’s slim and lightweight design makes it comfortable to handle, with curved edges and slim bezels contributing to its overall refined aesthetic. OPPO offers the Reno12 Pro in several stylish color options, allowing users to choose a finish that suits their style. Despite its mid-range positioning, the build quality is excellent, with well-placed, responsive buttons and a solid overall structure.

The OPPO Reno12 Pro comes in three colors, Nebula Silver, Space Brown and Sunset Gold.

Display & Audio

The Reno12 Pro comes equipped with a 6.7-inch AMOLED gentle curved display that boasts a resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels, 20.1:9 ratio. The display is a highlight, delivering vivid colors, deep blacks, and high contrast. Whether you’re gaming, streaming, or browsing, the visuals look sharp and vibrant with good deep blacks.

With a 120Hz refresh rate, the screen provides smooth and responsive interactions. Scrolling and animations feel fluid, enhancing the overall user experience. The display also supports HDR10+, making it perfect for enjoying HDR content with enhanced color depth and brightness while the glass is from Corning’s Gorilla Glass 2.

The audio performance on the Reno12 Pro is decent, though not exceptional. The phone features a dual firing speaker that produces clear sound, but it lacks some depth found in some stereo speaker setups. For casual listening, it works fine, but for a more loud audio experience, one can raised it up to 300% and it can get real loud that can cover a small room during our test. Furthermore this can still be tweaked with OReality Audio that came with 4 different pre-sets to choose from. There is no 3.5mm jack so for personal listening, your choice are left with USB C Audio and Bluetooth.

Camera

The OPPO Reno12 Pro features a versatile triple-camera setup on the rear, consisting of a 50MP primary sensor, an 50MP telephoto lens, and a 8MP wide angle lens. This combination allows for a wide range of photography options, from expansive landscapes to detailed close-up shots.

The 50MP main camera performs exceptionally well, producing crisp, detailed photos with vibrant colors and excellent dynamic range. Thanks to OPPO’s AI optimizations, the camera performs well in low-light conditions, especially with Night Mode enabled. The ultra-wide lens is great for capturing larger scenes, though there is some minor distortion at the edges. The OIS helps alot for those with slide shakes when taking pictures.

The telephoto camera works adequately for most zoomed shots, though it’s more of an added feature than a necessity especially when zooming beyond a few notch further. The 50MP front-facing camera delivers high-quality selfies with accurate skin tones and sharp details, making it a strong option for social media enthusiasts.

As part of the AI inclusion, it also has the new AI Eraser feature that can erase object or subject in almost an instant as long you have downloaded the feature in the editor.

In terms of video, the Reno12 Pro supports 4K recording at 30fps. It also includes electronic image stabilization (EIS), which helps ensure smooth video capture, even during handheld shooting. However one should take note that EIS only applicable for 1080P 60FPS video capture.

Performance & Software

Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor and paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage and MicroSD Card slot, the OPPO Reno12 Pro offers excellent performance for a wide range of tasks. Whether you’re running multiple apps, streaming, or playing games, the phone handles everything efficiently. The phone offers smooth multitasking and quick app launches, making everyday use a breeze.

For gaming, the Mali-G615 MC2 GPU ensures a solid performance, allowing most titles to run smoothly even at medium to high settings. The device goes only slightly warm during prolonged sessions, thanks to its cooling system. This makes the Reno12 Pro one of the contending phones in the performance portion.

Running on ColorOS 14.1, based on Android 14, the Reno12 Pro offers a highly customizable interface with many useful features. It’s fast, intuitive, and packed with personalization options, AI Studio for generative images captured from the phone and BeaconLink that allows you to make calls to another compatible OPPO phone that has BeaconLink without data, though it does come with some pre-installed apps that users may find unnecessary.

The last portion is the synthetic benchmarks, just for those who are interested, and on our side, we find it nothing out of the ordinary in terms of the total scoring or the performance.

Verdict & Conclusion

The OPPO Reno12 Pro brings a lot to the table for a mid-range smartphone, offering a stylish design, vibrant AMOLED display, strong performance, and versatile camera setup. Its 80W SuperVOOC fast charging is a particularly impressive feature, making it an excellent choice for users who value quick charging.

While it lacks wireless charging, these are minor compromises given the overall performance and quality of the phone. The Reno12 Pro is a great option for those seeking a premium feel and flagship-like features at a more affordable price point.
