LG Electronics (LG) has announced a strategic seed investment in Mo-Sys Engineering, a leader in virtual production solutions and camera robotics. This partnership aims to expand LG’s offerings in the virtual production and broadcasting technology sectors by integrating Mo-Sys’s cutting-edge solutions with LG’s renowned display technologies.
Virtual production, once exclusive to the film industry, is now increasingly embraced by TV broadcasters, corporations, and educational institutions for in-house content creation. Using a mix of LED screens, camera tracking, LED controllers, and media servers, virtual production offers a new frontier in visual storytelling.
Through this partnership, LG will combine its Micro LED and LED display technology with Mo-Sys’s XR products and systems to deliver a total solution for XR and virtual production studios. This collaboration ensures seamless integration between the two companies’ technologies, enhancing the customer experience.
Paik Ki-mun, LG’s senior vice president, stated, “We are thrilled to partner with Mo-Sys to offer customers a complete solution combining LG’s display expertise with Mo-Sys’s virtual production innovations.”
Michael Geissler, CEO of Mo-Sys, added, “LG’s investment will allow us to drive innovation and sustainability, enhancing our next-gen virtual production technologies.”
LG’s virtual production solutions, alongside Mo-Sys’s innovations, were showcased at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) 2024 in Amsterdam.
