DYMM Seri Paduka Sultan Perak Darul Ridzuan, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, today inaugurated Malaysia’s largest Harimau Malaya canvas painting as part of a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative by AmanahRaya-Kenedix REIT Manager Sdn Bhd (AmanahRaya-Kenedix), a subsidiary of Amanah Raya Berhad.

The event was also attended by AmanahRaya Chairman, Tan Sri Idrus Bin Harun, AmanahRaya Group Managing Director, Encik Ahmad Feizal Sulaiman Khan, Managing Director of AmanahRaya-Kenedix, YM Tunku Rozita Tunku Abdul Malek, along with Members of the Board of Directors of AmanahRaya Group.

In his speech, Tan Sri Idrus Harun highlighted AmanahRaya-Kenedix’s commitment to raising public awareness about the conservation of the Harimau Malaya, or Panthera Tigris Jacksoni, through the “Harimau Malaya Conservation” campaign. This campaign, held in collaboration with the Persatuan Pelindung Harimau Malaya (RIMAU), took place at Vista Tower, The Intermark, Kuala Lumpur.

He noted that the population of wild Malayan tigers in Malaysia has plummeted from approximately 1,000 in the 1970s to fewer than 150 today, largely due to illegal hunting and other threats. This initiative aligns with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices that corporate companies, including AmanahRaya Group, are encouraged to adopt.

YM Tunku Rozita, in her address, described the painting, composed of 16 canvases totaling 23 square meters, as a proactive effort by AmanahRaya-Kenedix and RIMAU to support the conservation of the Harimau Malaya. She emphasized that this species is a crucial indicator of biodiversity and sustainability in Malaysia’s forests.

The event also marked the beginning of an exhibition featuring artwork related to the Malayan tiger, with the pieces available for public purchase. A portion of the proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Malayan Tiger Conservation Campaign Fund (RIMAU).

The painting, created by renowned Malaysian mural artist Puan Lina Ali, was completed with the assistance of the management and staff of AmanahRaya Group during a CSR-Harimau Malaya painting project held from 30 to 31 May 2024.
