LG Electronics (LG) has announced the introduction of its advanced Anti-Discoloration™ technology for outdoor digital signage, the first of its kind to receive verification from UL Solutions, a leading standards and testing organization. This innovative technology addresses the issue of ‘screen-yellowing,’ which occurs when outdoor digital signage is exposed to prolonged sunlight. The technology ensures the stability and quality of the display, significantly extending the lifespan of LG’s digital signage products used in outdoor environments.
LG is the pioneering company to achieve UL verification for its display anti-discoloration technology. To reach this milestone, LG developed rigorous testing methodologies and defect-evaluation criteria, which UL Solutions assessed independently. Until now, there were no internationally recognized standards or testing methods for measuring a display’s resistance to screen-yellowing.
Outdoor digital displays are increasingly used in various settings, including drive-thru restaurants, bus stops, schools, and sports stadiums. However, prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause these screens to develop a yellowish tint over time. LG’s Anti-Discoloration technology effectively mitigates this issue, enhancing the durability and quality of the company’s outdoor digital signage solutions.
