Kolej Yayasan Saad Melaka (KYSM) reports its exceptional performance in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2023 results. Nearly half of the KYSM candidates achieved straight As, with 81 out of 168 students reaching this milestone. This accomplishment places KYSM once again among the top 10 schools in Malaysia based on the Average School Grade (GPS).
With a GPS of 1.257, KYSM secured the 5th spot, improving from last year’s 7th place. The National Average Grade (GPN) for this year is 4.60, underscoring KYSM’s academic excellence with its lower GPS.
Principal Mr. Tan Cheh Li stated, “This achievement reflects the founder’s vision brought to life. KYSM provides outstanding secondary education, preparing students to be future leaders and capable individuals.”
He added that the success is also due to the expert advice from the Board of Governors. Their guidance helps KYSM deliver an enhanced curriculum that fosters well-rounded high achievers.
KYSM emphasizes character development and additional skills in its students. Alongside the national curriculum, students engage in coding and IT, Mandarin as a third language, music theory and practice, swimming, and leadership training.
A straight A+ SPM graduate, Ms. Jasmine Hasya Junaidi, shared, “KYS offered the best environment for my growth. The facilities were excellent, and the healthy competition helped me excel. Finding like-minded peers made my journey smoother.”
The GPN scale indicates that a lower average denotes better overall performance in national exams. The grading scale is as follows:
