Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia) has joined hands with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to kick off the ‘Digital Leadership Excellence Programme: Navigating the Tech Frontier.’ This initiative aims to equip leaders from both the public and private sectors with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate the ever-evolving tech landscape and drive digital transformation within their respective organizations.

The comprehensive eight-month programme, backed by MCMC, adopts a blended learning approach, encompassing online modules, workshops, participation in Huawei conferences, practical attachments, a capstone project at Huawei Malaysia, and a seven-day industry visit to China.

The establishment of this programme came after a directive from Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, who urged Huawei during his address at the Malaysia ICT Summit to develop a programme ensuring leaders across sectors stay updated on the latest technologies, preventing them from falling behind in the digital era.

Mr. Simon Sun, CEO of Huawei Malaysia, highlighted the programme’s objective to provide leaders with a deeper understanding of emerging technologies and equip them with the skills to apply this knowledge effectively. The Chairman of MCMC, Tan Sri Mohamad Salim bin Fateh Din, also attended the launch event.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China, the inaugural intake of the programme will comprise 50 participants, with plans to engage a total of 300 participants over three years.

Participants from various industries, such as telcos, are enthusiastic about the programme, seeing it as an opportunity to collaborate, share expertise, and explore new technological developments like Big Data, AI, and 5G.

The programme, fully sponsored by Huawei Malaysia and developed in collaboration with MCMC, offers a flexible blended learning environment to accommodate the time constraints of busy leaders. It covers eight key domains, including Leadership, 5G technology, AI, IoT, Cloud Computing, Big Data, Green Technology, and Cybersecurity, across 32 modules.

The collaboration between MCMC and Huawei Malaysia to implement the programme was formalized through an MoU signed at the Mobile World Congress 2024 in Barcelona, Spain.
