The ASUS Expertbook B1 B1402 is part of the Expertbook lineup that has been long existed on the objective of giving small and medium businesses a solution towards a no nonsense laptop that caters towards productivity and work. It does have some multimedia features for communication purposes also.

In this review we will quickly look at the B1402 and access to what it has to offer towards the intended segment within the business world.

Design & Security

As I mentioned, it is indeed a no frills laptop, the first look at it, it features a all in totally catered in business design, and the color is in all star black which I think it’s the most ideal and safest color choices. The two usual features that it has is the 180 degree lay flat on the screen which makes it easy for screen sharing between parties and US MIL-STD 810H military-grade standard that undergoes extensive and stringent in-house testing, offering the assurance of exceptional protection.

The chiclet keyboard is designed to be comfortable too, with a standard 1.4mm key travel and fairly sized while the touchpad has Windows Precision Drivers in it, ensuring multi gestures and taps are compliant even if you if you forget your physical mouse, giving a fast solutions on your word processing editing needs.

The ASUS Expertbook B1 B1402 comes with webcam shutter and Windows login, fingerprint scanner, and TPM 2.0 security, making it not just a though laptop, but a secure laptop that can be configured seamlessly with Windows 11.

Display & Audio

The display that ASUS chose for this one is matte, and it is an anti glare 1080P, 14 inch LED display, TN panel with an aspect ratio of 16:9, which is pretty standard for a laptop today. However for work use, it is totally fine with all your web browsing and emails, since what you are working on mostly are just texts and standard images rendered on screen. If you are looking for something accurate in terms of colors, you may want to look over to their more expensive B5 series since this can only go up to 45% NTSC color grade, but for the most part, as long you know what you are expecting, this is all good.

ASUS never disappoint on the audio department, the ASUS Expertbook B1 B1402 has a pair of speakers located below, and it can be decently loud when placed on to a flat surface. Furthermore it is tuned by Dirac and there is an app should you need to fiddle with the audio presets and finally the microphone is also optimize for business conference video calls and communications, fully compatible with Microsoft Teams.

Performance, Software, Experience

Powered by the Intel Core i5 1335U, along with 8GB of DDR4 RAM and 512GB of NVME Gen4 storage, the ASUS Expertbook B1 B1402 specification is modest enough for all your daily usage. With the supplied 42Wh battery, the laptop can easily last you up to 7 hours of typical work, multimedia and browsing usage moderately. A 65w USB type C charger is included in the box, so recharging it back from empty to full will roughly take about 2 hours, and charging is also compatible with any 65W charger, as long it is a PD charger.

Naturally the ASUS Expertbook B1 B1402 came with Windows 11 Pro out of the box, with Microsoft Office pre-installed however you will need to purchase or subscribe to Microsoft Office 365. Apart from that there is only a few pre-installed ASUS apps, namely ExpertWidget that allows you to assign Hotkeys, MyAsus for firmware, software updates and system diagnostics, and lastly the ASUS Business Manager for managing installed software and IT organization management.

Now towards the experience, it’s just a simple laptop without frills, just what you need to get things for work, and that is pretty much I have to say, no dedicated powerful graphics but hey, it is snappy with the Intel Core i5 13th generation mobile processor, which also keeps the operation cool all day. One thing to take note, if you have some extra cash, upgrade to another stick of 8GB RAM, it will be even smoother and not to mention, the NVME slot is not soldered, you can upgrade your storage whenever you want to.

Lastly, here’s the benchmark for reference purpose.
