Samsung is once again unveiling a new series of phones to the market, and this time it is the Galaxy A Series for the year 2024. In summary, the A series is included in Samsung’s range of budget to super mid-range devices that offer affordability alongside some higher-end models. The main focus is on meeting users’ needs every time they use the phone. This time, we will be doing a basic unboxing and sharing our initial thoughts on the Samsung Galaxy A55, one of the two models released alongside the Galaxy A35.

The Galaxy A55 was packaged in a slender, compact white box. When you open the box, you will find the following items inside. The packaging is constructed entirely from recycled materials that are environmentally friendly, yet it securely contains everything in a compact package.

Typically, the package does not come with a charger or protective case starting from the Galaxy A55 model. However, it is easy to find a PD compatible charger that can support 25w or higher for fast charging and should be able to last a full day.
Color Choices
The Samsung Galaxy A55 is available in four different colors: Awesome Iceblue, Awesome Lilac, and Navy. The initial impression we received is the Awesome Lilac, a soft purple hue that exudes a sense of tranquillity. It is perfect for those who appreciate nature-inspired tones with a subtle yet distinctive look when shines under the sun. The color matches the camera rings and sides of the phone, and although it is not dual-toned, it features a flat metal aluminium frame for a comfortable grip and durable Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection for the display.
The Design, Look and Feel
The weight of the Galaxy A55 is 213 grams, making it heavier than the previous Galaxy A54, yet it maintains the enjoyable form factor for holding. Continuing to incorporate some of the design elements from the Galaxy S24 series on the rear side. Let’s discuss the display. The Super AMOLED 120Hz display is 6.6 inches in size, with a high 86% screen-to-body ratio for a large visible screen area. It allows for smooth touch scrolling and reaches a peak brightness of 1000 nits. Additionally, it is SGS Eye Care Display certified to protect your eyes when used at night. This feature is supported by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ for the display, keeping the phone resistant to dust and water up to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes
On the rear side of the phone, next to the cover display, there is a group of three cameras, including a 50MP OIS primary camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 5MP macro lens. This is a great blend that provides users with the necessary features for capturing images, as it incorporates OIS in the primary camera so you don’t have to worry too much about minor shaking while taking photos. Towards the front-facing selfie camera, you will find a large 32MP wide-angle camera that includes portrait mode, known for its improved pixel clarity and detail in various settings. Although the Samsung Galaxy A55 is classed as a midranger, it still packs in Samsung Knox embedded deeply in the phone. In terms of hardware, the Galaxy A55 is equipped with Samsung’s Exynos 1480 5nm SOC, an upgrade from the 1380, offering improved power efficiency and graphics performance backed by AMD’s RDNA 2 for running newer apps and games. It also features up to 256GB of UFS storage, expandable storage and 12GB of LPDDR4 RAM, ensuring strong performance for multitasking, quick camera use, media consumption, and gaming, along with the 120Hz display for added responsiveness. Also, the speakers located at the top and bottom deliver a delightful and crisp audio experience.
In summary, my brief experience with the Samsung Galaxy A55 has shown me that it is designed for individuals who want the latest features and performance without a high price. It offers a decently sized phone that is suitable for calls, multitasking, and comes with a great camera setup. Additionally, it is capable of gaming at high frame rates with satisfactory performance and will receive firmware and software updates for the foreseeable future. When it comes to the cost, you’re paying a fair price, and we believe it falls within the expected range considering the specifications – making it a worthwhile investment.
