Design

First glance looking at the body of the tablet, it is made of aluminum alloy unibody and I must say, for a tablet priced at this level, this is high quality structure that you can get with only two pieces combined together, the screen portion and the body of the tablet. Weighted at only 478 grams and thickness of just 7.4mm which is has a good weight and hold distribution ratio that is balanced and it is just as simple as keep in in your bag and basically carry it anywhere you wanted to without hassle.

Although Xiaomi did not mention about the glass type or strength, but it is a good quality once, but still I would recommend to get covers or screen protector to protect it, I will link it here so that you can check it out.

OK, lets get back to the tablet, the Redmi Pad SE houses 4 speakers, a USB C port for data and charging, a micro SD card slot for storage expansion and a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is rare enough these days even on tablets as manufacturers now prefer wireless headphone solutions and USB C earphones, which this tablet supports it as well, giving it additional flexibility.

The Redmi Pad SE is offered in three colors, Mint Green, Graphite Gray and Lavender Purple (region dependant), all which textured smoothly and no roughness all round the edges.

Display & Audio

Display wise, the Redmi Pad SE is equipped with a 11.0 inch, dynamic 90Hz LCD panel that is still be able to give out good color accuracy and viewing angle, and a peak brightness of 400nits which is still reasonable should you wanted to use the tablet both indoor and outdoors. While most tablets are starting to have 120hz or even 144hz refresh rates, for the most part, if you are just using it for streaming, movies, checking some webpages, I think with such configuration, it is more than sufficient even for demanding multimedia based application. And since this is based on 16:10 aspect ratio with 1500:1 contrast ratio, this can simple translates to one of the better viewing experience tablet without needing to view so near to your face.

Audio is simply one of the loud and sounding good, since it has Dolby Atmos tuned it, along with the quad speaker setup, this gives you an immersive experience when viewing certified Widevine L1 contents from Netflix or Disney+. Additionally from the sound settings user can also choose from multiple pre-determined equalizer which Xiaomi is kind enough to include such features for it’s users.

Camera

The Redmi Pad SE has 2 cameras, one 8MP wide camera located at the back as the rear shooter while another one 5MP that is equipped as a selfie camera. Both of which are capable of video recording up to 1080P at 30FPS. So to speak, if you are wanting to take a few pictures from it, well you can as long setting the expectation that tablet’s camera sensors are more cater towards video conferencing, however the results is still good for a quick posting over social media.

Performance, Software, Benchmarks

The Redmi Pad SE is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680, a well known power efficient octa core processor used in some budget phones and tablets, along with 4GB, 6GB or 8GB RAM and internal storage that starts from 128GB all the way to 256GB. Should you need more storage, you can expand with a MicroSD card up to 1TB, which is quite convenient for storing all your pictures, documents or even your favorite movies on the go.

Software wise, the tablet is well optimized and driven with MIUI 14 for tablet and Android 13 as the base OS. For this, Xiaomi keep the whole tablet pretty light in terms of software, with just a few add-on software and apps which the third party apps can be uninstalled easily by the user itself. While the unit that we got is the 4GB + 128GB, luckily there is RAM Expansion which can be expanded up to a maximum of 3GB, this overall improved the app switching operations and even with 4GB of physical RAM, we tested Genshin Impact and it still ran fairly reasonable, at least around 40FPS, while other MOBA titles or shooters will just ran smoothly since those uses lower amount of resources, Call of Duty mobile for example. Recharging will take near to 2 hours from 20% to 100%, to me this is kind of expected with the supplied 10w charger in the box.

Benchmark seems to be within expected range also, since this is a budget oriented tablet and it still can perform well on most day to day light task such as browsing, streaming, some document editing should work fine and well.
