Kingston Technology said today that TrendForce has recognized it the number one third-party provider of SSDs in the channel for the entire year of 2022, with the company dominating channel SSD shipments for the sixth consecutive year. According to TrendForce data, Kingston accounted for a whopping 28 percent of the 114 million units supplied in 2022.

According to the most recent results, the global SSD market’s supply and demand dynamics will be corrected in 2022. This comes after a resolution to the IC (integrated circuit) scarcity that plagued the industry in 2021. Despite the resolve, global SSD shipments fell by 10.7% in 2022, with just 114 million devices sold – a 10.7% fall from the previous year. Nonetheless, Kingston remained the top SSD shipping leader in 2022, retaining a strong lead and increasing market share over 2021. Despite industry constraints, the top five non-semiconductor third-party providers accounted for roughly 60% of total sales in 2022. The findings confirmed Kingston’s position as the clear leader in SSD manufacture, with the second-place provider accounting for only 9% of the overall channel market.

With the global economy still struggling in 2023, when laptop and desktop shipments were constrained, module manufacturers deliberately controlled the burden of high-cost inventories by positioning themselves for competitive pricing in their shipping strategy. As the third quarter came to an end, market sentiment shifted dramatically, owing mostly to NAND Flash providers’ significant output reduction. This shift was especially noticeable in the cost dynamics of SSDs, benefiting module producers with lower-cost stocks in the end.

According to TrendForce, delivering NVMe upgrades will certainly increase brand recognition and continue to drive shipments. Kingston increased their line of goods in 2022, including value and high-performance drives, as well as offers in the external and encrypted categories. With the release of its new NV2 client NVMe drive in 2022, Kingston immediately became the most popular selling drive in the company’s range this year, with over 12 million units sold globally since launch. Following the success of the award-winning Kingston FURY Renegade SSD, Kingston updated the drive to add a cooling option suited for console and PC gamers. This demonstrates Kingston’s continuous commitment to delivering high-quality NVMe solutions.

Aside from increasing its product line to better correspond with client purchasing patterns, Kingston provides top-tier sales assistance and access to in-house product specialists and engineers. This has resulted in more than three decades of client dependability and support. Kingston’s #1 ranking in the SSD market for the sixth consecutive year comes as no surprise given that the same approach in the DRAM segment has lead the company to be the top third-party memory module provider for the 20th consecutive year.

“It’s an honor to achieve this top ranking for another year”, said Kingston. “From the beginning, Kingston has remained steadfast in our commitment to serving our customers and channel partners across the globe, and it’s through these strong and enduring relationships that our SSD business has experienced remarkable growth. The recent findings from TrendForce serve as a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire team, and we are grateful for the recognition and success we share with them.”
