Huawei announced the 57 outstanding winners of the XMAGE Awards 2023, displaying the extraordinary photographic abilities of individuals capturing memories with Huawei products. Three Grand Prize winners, 17 Best-in-Category winners, 34 Runner-up winners, and three Honorable Mentions were among the honors conferred.
Between 7 April and 15 August, participants from approximately 100 nations submitted over 600,000 entries in an incredible exhibition of excitement and creativity. China led the pack, with Malaysia, Turkey, Poland, the Philippines, and the UAE close behind, underlining the competition’s worldwide reach. The most popular phone models were the HUAWEI P60 Pro, HUAWEI P40 Pro, and HUAWEI Mate 40 Pro.
Malaysia tops the XMAGE Awards 2023 with the most entries among international countries.
Notably, Malaysia emerged as a notable contributor, outnumbering all other countries in terms of contributions. This demonstrates Malaysian photographers’ enthusiasm and inventiveness in using Huawei products to showcase their distinct viewpoints.
Mr. Faizul Hisham bin Haji Mohd Dahalan, a committed Mathematics teacher, achieved one of Malaysia’s most significant victories in the XMAGE Awards 2023. His beautiful portrait “Wistful Reflection” earned the coveted Best-in-Category prize in the Portrait category, demonstrating Malaysia’s depth of ability.
Mr. Faizul Hisham’s achievement is enhanced by the technology that underpins his artwork. His winning submission, shot with precision using the HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro, displays not just his artistic skills, but also the cutting-edge capabilities of Huawei products. This accomplishment highlights Huawei’s technology’s contribution in enabling people to capture and share the beauty of life via photography.
The three Grand Prize-winning images that won the hearts of the judges
The Grand Prizes were awarded to “Dragon Clouds” by Domcar Calinawan Lagto of the Philippines, “Airshow” by Piotr Cebula of Poland, and “Fearless Eagle” by Dou Chuanli of China. The XMAGE creation fund will provide each winner $10,000 USD (before taxes) to promote their photography and encourage them to continue using Huawei products in the future.

Fearless Eagle | HUAWEI Mate 40 RS
Judge’s comment: In addition to what is outside, it is even more important to find the inside of the subjects, their characters, or their emotions at that moment. We have seen many eagles in paintings, photography and videos, but I will definitely always remember this one — it captures the true soul of the eagle. New categories inspiring spectacular creativity
Night Walk, Portrait, Art & Fashion, Outdoor, Hello Life, Storyboard, Action, and Storytelling were among the categories covered in this year’s competition. New categories have been created to assist participants in unleashing their creativity and showcasing their distinct viewpoints. Each category’s 17 Best-in-Category winners and 34 Runner-up winners will earn 1500 USD and 1000 USD, respectively, from the XMAGE creation fund.
