CelcomDigi Berhad is going above and above to keep communities safe during the monsoon season by providing flood-preparation suggestions through its flood preparedness toolbox.

The straightforward infographic includes things to take before, during, and after a flood. It also includes helpful recommendations on how to keep your phone’s battery charged and other do’s and don’ts during a flood, such as wearing firm shoes, not driving into flood waters, and locking all windows or entryways to prevent flood water damage to homes, among other things.

People living in flood-prone areas are advised to stock up on essentials in a grab-and-go bag ahead of the floods. This includes basic supplies such as food, water, clothing, and medication, as well as electrical necessities like a fully-charged device, powerbanks, torchlights, and spare batteries.

The refreshed toolkit will be helpful for early preparation and quick mitigations while staying safe. Available in both Bahasa Malaysia and English, the floodkit will also be accessible via Celcom Life and MyDigi apps and CelcomDigi’s social media platforms.

Network readiness and on-the-ground assistance to keep communities linked

CelcomDigi is committed to promoting equitable climate change mitigation and adaptation measures. In order to manage climate-related physical hazards such as floods, the corporation has taken proactive efforts to increase network resilience. Efforts include elevating network infrastructure to prevent equipment from being submerged in floodwaters and preparing power generators and mobile base transceiver stations to decrease connectivity disruption. CelcomDigi’s operations teams are ready to deploy to affected locations at any time.

To keep impacted populations connected, Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) units have been stationed in flood-prone areas and will be transported to relief centers for internet access. Relief trucks and boats have been sent in coordination with the Malaysian Relief Agency to visit badly impacted regions in order to assist trapped victims.

With these ongoing efforts, CelcomDigi hopes that the public would take necessary measures to be prepared in case of floods.
