Samsung introduced the Galaxy SmartTag2, which will be available internationally on October 11. Galaxy SmartTag2 adds to the Galaxy SmartTag range, allowing for new and improved methods to track assets. Upgrades to the device’s design and usability generate more use cases than ever before.

“We are constantly looking at ways to make people’s lives more convenient through Samsung Galaxy’s industry-leading innovations,” said Jaeyeon Jung, Executive Vice President and Head of SmartThings, Device Platform Center at Samsung Electronics. “With the Galaxy SmartTag2, we set out to make sure Samsung Galaxy users can find their belongings in an easy and intuitive way. With an enhanced finding experience and a longer battery life, Galaxy SmartTag2 will provide users with greater peace of mind for longer and in more situations.”

Finding Lost Items Easier Than Ever

The new Lost Mode on the Galaxy SmartTag2 allows users to enter their contact information via a message. Then, anybody who finds an item with a Galaxy SmartTag2 attached may use their smartphone to scan the tag and view the owner’s message and contact information. This means that attaching a Galaxy SmartTag2 to a pet’s collar is now a straightforward way to ensure the pet owner’s phone number is always available, in most situations where the pet could roam. Lost Mode works with any mobile device that has an NFC reader and a web browser.

The Galaxy SmartTag2 now has an updated Compass View function, which improves the user experience by showing the direction and distance of the Galaxy SmartTag2 in reference to the user. This mode is accessible on any Galaxy smartphone that supports UWB, such as the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

The SmartThings Find app has also been updated, with newly registered Galaxy SmartTags now installing a shortcut to the app on the user’s smartphone, making it easier to activate SmartThings Find. Furthermore, the app now has a full-screen map view and an intuitive layout, enhancing the user experience.

New Modes Mean Longer-Lasting Battery

Users may now use Galaxy SmartTag2 for longer periods of time thanks to the new Power Saving Mode, which is available alongside an upgraded Normal mode. Power Saving Mode is ideal for customers who rely on SmartTag to constantly track objects. It conserves battery life while allowing you to keep an eye on your belongings. The battery on the Galaxy SmartTag2 now lasts up to 700 days using Power Saving Mode, which is more than twice as long as prior Galaxy SmartTag models. Even in Normal Mode, battery life has been increased by 50% over previous versions to 500 days. Users may track their possessions from car keys to bikes by switching between two modes.

The Galaxy SmartTag2’s new compact dimensions and ring-shaped design were built with simplicity of use in mind. The huge metal loop increases product longevity by employing metal on the interior of the ring for enhanced robustness that may support accessories such as clips and keyrings. These attachments can also be attached to bags and baggage.

Galaxy SmartTag2 also works perfectly with SmartThings Station, which is connected with SmartThings Find and serves as an always-on device scanner, assisting users in keeping track of assets that have a SmartTag attached. SmartThings Station will tell customers of the position of their tagged item, which can range from personal objects such as TV remotes, wallets, and keys to registered gadgets such as smartphones, tablets, watches, and earphones. Pet owners will also receive a warning if a tagged collar goes too far away from the SmartThings Station, allowing them to keep their furry pals close to home.
