The Fan Edition is back for more !
Just back a few days ago, Samsung has revealed the whole Galaxy FE lineup for 2023, if you remember there is no FE series that came out last year, but this year it comes with the Tab FE and Buds FE too. So lets just quickly take a look to see what it has to offer with the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE.
Unboxing Contents
Below is the following on the items within the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE
- The Phone itself
- USB C to C cable
- User Manual
- SIM Ejector
The Galaxy S23 FE comes in a slim and tall black color box. Upon unboxing you will get the following as pictured above. The packaging material is made of 100% eco friendly recycled materials and all is fitting nicely
Color Choices
The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE comes in four colors, Graphite, Mint, Purple and Cream. Most of the accessories are readily available via Samsung’s Online Website from cases, screen protectors, adaptors and companion connected devices such as the Galaxy Watch6 and Buds FE which are highly recommended as a companion. Another recommendation from us is you can check out the Tab S9 FE series also. You can check all the details of the accessories HERE.
The one that we got for the first impression is the Graphite color, not completely black all the way, with a mix of a slight gray to it, glossy looking while still carrying a mix of the Galaxy A54 and S23 series when placed side by side. Furthermore the aluminum frame is still there with symmetrical curves and the same color scheme applied seamlessly based on the chosen color.
The Design, Look and Feel
The Galaxy S23 FE just weighs in at 209 Grams, which is not too heavy when its held on my hands. The base of the design pretty much following the styles that can be seen on the S23 series and some of the A series in 2023. Due too the similar form factor, everything pretty much feels and operate similar to the S23 series in general. When focus on the screen, you get the 6.4 inch Dynamic Adaptive AMOLED 2X screen with 85% screen to body ratio giving it a comfortable viewable screen estate that is SGS eye care certified and HDR10+ support. This is further backed by the protection of the display and the back cover with Corning Gorrila Glass 5 which is still plenty adequate for protecting your phone over normal use circumstances.
Looking at the back of the phone you will see an island of floating tri setup cameras with one 12MP Ultra Wide angle lens, a 50MP wide lens followed by an 8MP telephoto lens. The set of camera is part of the Samsung’s ISOCELL GN3 which is able to handle fast autofocus along with PDAF and OIS. We snap some sample picture below with the Galaxy S23 FE with mixed of day shots.
Performance & Impressions
Hardware wise, the Galaxy S23 FE is powered by last year’s Exynos 2200 Octa Core SOC, with up to 256GB UFS internal storage and 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM, which sets the S23 FE performance stands in between the S22 and S23 mainline series and safely can be up to any modern tasks and gaming, thanks to the inclusion of the Xclipse 920 AI GPU with AMD’s RNDA 2 that is refined and optimised to be on par with any flagship killers out there. The 120Hz display will give you the responsiveness you need. On top of that you will get a pleasant and loud audio experience with its top & bottom firing speaker.
Overall on my few days of impression with the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE, this is a new take on redefining the flagship killer segment that is getting popular with a combination of design and hardware which is still highly relevant. Backed by Samsung’s long term firmware and Android versions upgrade. From the price point perspective, our first take on the impression is something worthy to consider, but let us test for a few more days as we will explore and publish it over in our full review.
