Aqara, a leading smart home device supplier, announced its official launch in Malaysia in collaboration with Hello Smart Sdn Bhd, Aqara’s authorized distributor and service partner in Malaysia. The introduction will strengthen Aqara’s market position in Malaysia, where smart home device sales are estimated to more than treble to RM2.7 billion by 2027.

“Since Aqara first entered the Malaysian market in 2019, we have witnessed back-to-back annual sales growth of 100%. This remarkable achievement speaks to the strong demand for Aqara’s revolutionary smart home solutions, including our home monitoring systems, door locks and security cameras, which deliver incredible benefits in terms of ease, convenience, security, and peace of mind. Today, we are thrilled to launch Aqara officially in Malaysia, along with four of our new, innovative smart home products. By bringing the best of what Aqara has to offer, we believe Aqara can ride the growth of Malaysia’s smart home market, which is expected to be worth RM2.7 billion by 2027. – Aqara’s Global Sales Manager Harry Zhang

According to Statista, Malaysia’s smart home business is still in its early stages, with total smart home device sales anticipated at US$268.2 million (RM1.25 billion) in 2022.

According to Statista, hardly one in every ten Malaysian households (13.8%) has a smart home gadget. This proportion is expected to nearly double by 2027, rising to 26.0% as market awareness grows, the cost of smart devices falls, and the capabilities of the technology improve. This greater penetration rate is predicted to more than double smart home device yearly sales to US$581.70 million (RM2.71 billion) in 2027.

Even still, this estimate offers a lot of potential for expansion. The average annual spending on smart home technology among Malaysian smart home device users is expected to be US$247 in 2027, which is more than 50% less than the US$547 spent by US smart home device owners in 2022.

Smart home technology is being pushed out across major residential developments in Malaysia, including Gamuda Land’s Gamuda Cove in the southern Klang Valley, OSK Property’s Ryan & Miho in Petaling Jaya, and IJM Land Bhd’s Swans @ Bandar Rimbayu in Selangor, as demand for these grows.
