Xiaomi offers smartphone users seeking a professional camera experience the ultimate, in all capabilities, with a quad camera system centered on the main camera with a 1-inch sensor and a variable aperture, an ultra-high-grade WQHD+ display with excellent color accuracy, and premium flagship Snapdragon® 8 Gen 2 performance, all packed in a classic design.

During the local preview session, Xiaomi teamed with Leica Photographer Sadiq Asyraf to highlight the camera’s potential through a series of photographs and a Xiaomi Master Class session.

The series shows Malaysia’s gorgeous monuments and culture, with photographs of popular buildings, streets, and more embodying what’s ‘really Malaysian’. To witness Sadiq Asyraf’s narrative series, follow him on Instagram and the Xiaomi Malaysia Facebook page.

Leica optics, Summicron Lens of Leica in mobile imaging

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra’s Leica optical system is based on the optical principle of the Leica M series and has compact size, big aperture, outstanding imaging performance, dependability, and durability. The lens has an ultra high-order polynomial design, allowing design precision to reach a nanoscale level, approaching the optical limit. Meanwhile, a multi-layer coating significantly lowers glare and ghosting while providing steady performance in both extremely cold and extremely hot settings.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra features a quad camera system with Leica optical lenses covering focal lengths ranging from 12mm (ultra-wide angle), 23mm (wide-angle), 75mm (telephoto), to the new 120mm (super-telephoto), as well as added 46mm and 240mm lengths through the In-Sensor-Zoom. In addition to complete focal length versatility, the smartphone’s professional camera mode includes variable aperture. The cameras on the Xiaomi 13 Ultra have an aperture wider than/2.0, which allows for more light and a soft, shallow depth of field, as well as shorter shutter times, allowing for faster capture of natural and unmissable moments. The primary camera, which has an ultra-large 1-inch IMX989 sensor and a new physical two-stop aperture toggling between f/1.9 and f/4.0, allows for additional exposure customization.

Large Capable Display

In terms of display, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra has a 6.73″ pro-grade WQHD+ display with great color accuracy and up to 2600 nits peak brightness. This display is also calibrated according to the latest CIE 2015 colorimetry, which offers excellent automated color management to ensure accurate and consistent color presentation across different screens from Xiaomi devices released recently.

Xiaomi 13 Ultra also supports an end-to-end Dolby Vision® experience, capturing vivid colors, astonishing contrast and brightness, and a panoramic view of rich details in dark and bright areas, while also allowing users to share their own creative content in UGC communities that support Dolby Vision.

Performance and Battery Life

Xiaomi 13 Ultra offers greater performance and energy conservation thanks to the newest Snapdragon® 8 Gen 2 flagship CPU, which uses 4nm process technology. The smartphone supports LPDDR5x RAM up to 16GB, UFS4.0 storage up to 1 TB, and FBO (File Based Optimization). The Xiaomi 13 Ultra also has a USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface and can output 4K 60Hz video via DisplayPort.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra has accomplished “one-way conduction” of the internal circulation through the “vapor-liquid separation” structure, thanks to Xiaomi’s self-developed Loop LiquidCool technology, the first landing of an aerospace-grade big toroidal cooling system on a smartphone. This provides comparable thermal conductivity that is more than three times that of typical VCs, as well as heat dissipation capability that surpasses 10W. With this strong and sophisticated technology, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is capable of shooting in 4K 60fps without frame rate reduction owing to temperature.

By combining a Xiaomi Surge P2 Charging Chip and a Xiaomi Surge G1 Battery Management Chip with a 5,000mAh battery, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is able to estimate battery life at incredibly granular levels. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra also has a new Hibernation mode, which will be activated automatically when the battery is low, reducing background operations and providing up to 60 minutes of extra standby time.

Pricing and availability

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra will be available for pre-order in Malaysia on June 23, 2023. Xiaomi 13 Ultra costs RM5,199 and is available in three colors: black, olive green, and white. It is available at Authorized Xiaomi Stores and official dealers nationwide.
