Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. will usher in a new era for home appliances today at Bespoke Life 2023, the company’s third annual display of the most recent improvements to its Bespoke portfolio.

The live stream, which took place on 7 June at 10 p.m. on Samsung Malaysia’s official website, newsroom, and YouTube channel, provided viewers with an opportunity to learn more about how the company’s extended “Bespoke Life” concept is impacting people’s lives via sustainability, connection, and design.

“Bespoke Life embodies Samsung’s commitment to making our homes and future more sustainable by reimagining the appliances we rely on every day,”

— said Jong-Hee (JH) Han, Vice Chairman, CEO and Head of the DX (Device eXperience) Division at Samsung Electronics.

“By introducing new and creative ways for users to ‘Bespoke’ their life, our latest products and solutions empower anyone to enjoy a more sustainable, connected, and stylish lifestyle.” he added.

Sustainable Life – Technologies That Make a Positive Impact

Samsung’s Bespoke Life idea evolved from its belief that home appliances are critical to building a more sustainable future. As a result, this year’s Bespoke event highlighted Samsung’s efforts to decrease carbon emissions across the product lifetime. It also introduced the new Less Microfiber™ Filter, a simple solution for reducing microplastic emissions during laundry cycles.

Samsung is revamping each stage of the product lifecycle, from sourcing and manufacture through distribution, usage, and recycling, to help minimise energy consumption and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

Examples of the company’s initiatives to recycle additional resources include the operation of a closed-loop recycling centre, the incorporation of bioplastic material made from waste oil into the storage baskets of Bespoke refrigerators, and the expansion of its usage of recovered fishing nets.

Products are created, then distributed to customers using Samsung’s eco-packaging, which began employing paper coil and tape in place of plastic earlier this year.

Samsung continues to enhance services that make saving energy simple in order to encourage a more sustainable lifestyle during the product use phase. As such, five new Bespoke appliances, including refrigerators, washers and dryers, dishwashers, and air conditioners, as well as Samsung’s Eco Heating System, will include an enhanced version of SmartThings AI Energy Mode this year, which will be available in 65 countries soon.

In addition to supporting lower carbon emissions and energy consumption, Samsung continues to play an active role in combating microplastic contamination. Samsung and Patagonia have collaborated once again to introduce the Less Microfiber™ Filter, after the development of a laundry cycle that decreases microfibre discharge by up to 54%.

The Less Microfiber™ Filter captures up to 98% of the microfibers shed during laundry cycles. When used to wash two kg of clothes four times per week, the filter can help eliminate up to 132 g of microplastic discharge per person per year — around eight 500ml plastic bottles.

The Less Microfiber™ Filter is already available in Korea and the UK, and will be accessible in other countries in the third quarter of this year.

Connected Life – Paving the Way for Hyper-Connected Homes

To “Bespoke” one’s life means to optimise equipment in ways that simplify and empower your daily routine. Samsung is laying the groundwork for a new age of hyper-connected homes by enhancing connection throughout the range and expanding AI to other product categories.

Bespoke solutions offer a flawlessly automated home experience by combining Samsung’s newest SmartThings innovations and AI technology. Devices learn customers’ use routines and give personalised automation based on their smart home setup and lifestyle. Samsung has stated that it will include Wi-Fi capabilities into all new Bespoke appliances and will make connection a norm in all Samsung appliance lines in the future years to make it easier for consumers to enjoy such experiences.

Samsung has also announced the release of the Bespoke Jet™ AI, the company’s most powerful cordless stick vacuum cleaner and the world’s first to be AI-certified by UL Solutions, a renowned independent safety science organisation. The Bespoke Jet™ AI gives the performance needed to thoroughly clean one’s whole house, combining up to 280W of suction force and a run duration of up to 100 minutes each charge.

Its AI Cleaning Mode intelligently monitors brush load and vacuuming air pressure to differentiate between cleaning situations, including floor type, and automatically optimises parameters like suction power and brush speed to maximise cleaning performance, usage time, and manoeuvrability.

The vacuum also has a revolutionary All-in-One Clean Station™ that generates a strong spinning cyclone to empty the trash quickly and effectively.

Stylish Life – Taking Personalized Design to the Next Level

The three million Bespoke refrigerators sold globally since the lineup’s inception demonstrate consumers’ strong enthusiasm in appliances that provide more flexibility and functionality than traditional models. Today, this reconsideration of what appliances should give customers continues to define Bespoke design – a design approach that becomes more dynamic and distinct with each new product category it goes to.

As of this year, the Bespoke portfolio covers 15 product categories available to consumers in 52 countries. Each addition to the roster gives the opportunity to appeal to a broader range of lifestyles and standards. As a result, Samsung is expanding its Bespoke refrigerator lineup by introducing the Bespoke 4-Door Flex™ with Family Hub™+, as well as new side-by-side and top-mounted models.

The 32-inch touchscreen with no bezels on the Bespoke 4-Door Flex™ with Family Hub™+ is roughly double the size of the previous model and provides even more useful and fun multitasking features. The new top-mounted and side-by-side versions combine some of Samsung’s most advanced food storage technologies with elegant and minimalist front panels available in a selection of colours and finishes.

In addition to delivering the Bespoke AITM Washer and Dryer in the US and Southeast Asia this year, Samsung is expanding its personalisation choices to allow more individuals to customise their home. Samsung’s MyBespoke customisation tool, which has been offered to all consumers in the US since last year, allows users to nurture a kitchen appearance that genuinely reflects their way of life by combining pictures or artwork to create one-of-a-kind refrigerator panels. To further enhance Bespoke’s strong design ethos, Samsung has announced that the limited-edition Bespoke panels developed by Italian creative studio TOILETPAPER and initially revealed at Fuorisalone 2023 are now available at Samsung flagship shops in the UK, the US, and Korea.
