For seasoned sound engineers and music producers, Sony unveiled the MDR-MV1 Reference Monitor Headphones. The headphones combine good sound with durability and dependability. Their open back design makes them an excellent choice for mixing and mastering immersive spatial sound, such as 360 Reality Audio, as well as stereo sound with high-resolution capabilities. Sony also unveiled the C-80, a uni-directional condenser microphone perfect for vocal/voice recording, instrumental recording, vlogging, webcasting, and podcasting. This new microphone is designed for use in home studios. With this new product, high-quality sound is even more widely available thanks to the technology inherited from Sony’s renowned C-800G and well-liked C-100 microphones.
“With the rise in spatial sound and high quality streaming music services, we are seeing a demand for headphones that can adaptably address and enrich all of these immersive needs,” said Andy Munitz, Sr. Product Manager, Sony Electronics. “Sony’s deep heritage in audio is on display with the introduction of the MDR-MV1, a flexible and stylish new option for home or studio use. The headphones prioritise comfort, showcase Sony’s craftsmanship and provide long-term durability while offering users the ability to accurately reproduce sounds, as the artist intended them to be heard.”
“The C-80 takes advantage of Sony’s heritage in professional audio, providing users with an affordable introductory model that incorporates high-end professional features,” said John Studdert, Head of Media Solutions, Sony Electronics. “With unrivaled sound quality and thoughtful construction, the C-80 is a great addition to any audio enthusiast’s microphone collection and a perfect complement to Sony’s full line of professional audio technologies.”
MDR-MV1
The MDR-MV1 delivers enhanced spatial sound replication, precise sound object placement in a 360-degree environment, and clear, high-resolution, nuanced sound with a super-wide frequency range. The headphones’ specially designed driver modules deliver high-frequency playback with a realistic ultra-wideband (5Hz – 80 kHz) spectrum. Professionals will find it simpler to record localisation, spaciousness, and minute changes in sound processing as a result. The headphones’ open back design avoids acoustic resonances and minimises internally reflected sounds while faithfully recreating rich, realistic spatial information. These strong characteristics enable their usage in expert mixing and mastering situations and meet the highest requirements for audio engineers.
The lightweight, soft, and fitting MDR-MV1 headphones were designed with comfort in mind and have ventilated earpads. They are very light and comfortable to wear, even after several hours of usage. For simplicity of usage in a professional situation, the MDR-MV1 comes with a high-quality replaceable, detachable cable with machined aluminium connections.
C-80
The C-80 incorporates the C-100’s microphone capsule with the C-800G’s two-part metallic anti-vibrational body construction to preserve the spirit of Sony’s renowned C-800G and well-liked C-100 microphones. Its “Noise Elimination Construction” also stops the acoustic vibration of the microphone body, producing low noise and clear sound. The C-80 also features a dual diaphragm construction, which reduces proximity effect and other acoustic variations with distance and enhances vocal recording stability.
Vocals may stand out even when blended with other instrumental sounds thanks to the C-80’s tight and rich mid-range capture, which gives the voice sound a defined core and presence. A natural and clear recording is produced by eliminating boomy low frequencies and noise when near to the microphone, and the C-80 also offers a true representation of an instrument’s features, such as the sound of guitar strings and the resonance of the body.
Pricing & Availability
The SRP for the C-80 is RM2,190, while the MDR-MV1’s is RM1,690. From May 2023, both will be available in Malaysia.
