In a fast changing world, from technology to markets to customers, the environment and quality of life have become increasingly vital, while attempts to create a sustainable future have intensified. As a worldwide leader in consumer electronics and ICT, Samsung Electronics is responsible for establishing an eco-conscious value chain via new technologies and products, as well as providing more meaningful and illuminating experiences to each and every customer.
“We are focusing our efforts to recognise sustainable innovation as an essential value and key element in our business,” said Jong-Hee Han, CEO and Head of DX (Device eXperience) Division, Samsung Electronics. “At CES 2023, Samsung will outline its plan for ‘Bringing Calm to Our Connected World’ by underlining our responsibilities and vision to strive towards this goal and share our journey together for creating a sustainable and prosperous future.”
SmartThings: Delivering Evolved Hyper-Connected Experiences
Samsung will unveil a new and extended SmartThings experience at CES 2023 that merges the home ecosystem even more effortlessly, with a system underpinned by better security. It will also investigate quicker and safer methods to connect gadgets and appliances, as well as leverage AI to create personalised experiences for each user even more exact.
Samsung is working together with multiple industry partners to bring the SmartThings experience to life, paving the way for optimum and personalised connected experiences based on consumers’ specific interests and lifestyles.
Future Sustainability in the Hyper-Connected Era
Samsung focuses on how technology may handle common challenges in order to create better daily living experiences, and the company continues to produce sustainable goods and new technologies. Saving energy with SmartThings and creating eco-friendly goods demonstrate the company’s sustainable, forward-thinking ideals. Samsung will continue to pave the road for the hyper-connected era, allowing people to contribute to the creation of a more sustainable future by utilising Samsung products.
“Since announcing our new environmental strategy, we have underlined how we plan to contribute to overcoming the climate crisis through our innovative technologies, including ultra-low power semiconductors and energy saving products. Our goal is also to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050,” said Jong-Hee Han.
Furthermore, Samsung is aggressively promoting its environmental and societal initiatives by participating in sustainable business management relationships with other stakeholders such as international organisations, industries, and people. Samsung joined the steering committee of the Asia Clean Energy Coalition (ACEC), together with other global enterprises and non-governmental organisations, to extend renewable energy supply to its key industrial centres in Asia. Moreover, during the COP27 UN Climate Change Conference, Samsung became a founding member of the Semiconductor Climate Consortium (SCC). Through this organisation, Samsung wants to implement plans to reduce the semiconductor industry’s overall greenhouse gas emissions, establish eco-conscious ecosystems by setting a carbon reduction target, research greenhouse gas reduction solutions, and assist green technology companies.
