The Odyssey OLED G8 is a new high-end addition to Samsung Malaysia Electronics’ lineup of gaming monitors, delivering a competitive edge and performance-driven features that meet gamers’ needs.
Announced globally at the IFA 2022 in Berlin, Germany. The Odyssey OLED G8 will be available in an ultra-thin, 34-inch form factor, delivering fantastic light output on an OLED panel paired up with Quantum Dot Technology and filled to the brim with premium gaming features such as an astonishingly low 0.1ms response time and 175Hz refresh rate.
Starting with the front profile, the new 34-inch Odyssey OLED G8 has an ultra-slim thickness of 3.9mm at its thinnest point – the smallest in its product category — and is completed with a sleek, metal frame.
The monitor does not require backlighting and delivers real RGB and true black for optimal colour accuracy and brightness – all without the use of a colour filter. The lighting is controlled by pixels, which have a near-infinite contrast ratio and can be rendered in black.
Regardless of the game being played, the ultra-wide, QHD resolution (3,440 x 1,440) gaming monitor offers a 21:9 aspect ratio, 100% colour volume, and DCI-99.3% colour gamut for stunning images. This is supplemented with a 1800R curvature for the ideal gaming view and a million-to-one static contrast ratio to bring out the finest details for greater immersion.
The Odyssey OLED G8 features a display that is VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black Certified. Ensuring that content is bright and lifelike with accurate colour and contrast reproduction. The Odyssey OLED G8’s rapid reaction time and refresh rate provide gamers with lightning-quick response capabilities and real-world accuracy in a variety of gaming settings, and the monitor is further enhanced with AMD FreeSync Premium for smooth gameplay.
Additionally, the Odyssey OLED G8 allows users to enjoy the best entertainment, lifestyle, and gaming features in one convenient place even without a connection to a smartphone or PC. The display functions as a full entertainment centre with the ability to stream content through Samsung’s Smart Hub, enabling access to the newest shows on Amazon Prime, Netflix, YouTube, and other major OTT (over-the-top) service providers. Moreover, Samsung TV Plus enables users to access free live content without having to download anything or log in.
The integrated IoT hub allows users to check all of the IoT devices that are wirelessly linked to the monitor, while the SmartThings app allows users to easily monitor IoT devices across the house. The app’s user-friendly control interface can assist in monitoring and adjusting parameters such as temperature and humidity.
Thanks to a Height Adjustable Stand (HAS) and Tilt capability, The Odyssey OLED G8 allows gamers to play their favorite games with their ideal position and angle.
The display is equipped with the well-known CoreSync & Core Lighting+ from the Odyssey portfolio, which has been improved for the Odyssey OLED G8. This advanced lighting technology, which can be found on the monitor’s backside, perfectly replicates the colours shown on the screen, bringing content to life with vibrant hues that create more memorable, immersive experiences. The Odyssey OLED G8 also has a 5W stereo speaker for clear music, Micro HDMI (2.1), Mini DP (1.4), and USB-C connectors for flexible connectivity.
