The new 990 PRO, the company’s high-performance NVMe SSD based on PCIe 4.0, is now available at Samsung Authorized Dealers countrywide. The new SSD is built for graphically demanding games and other intense applications like as 3D rendering, 4K video editing, and data analysis, with lightning-fast speeds and greater power efficiency.

“With continuing innovations in gaming, 4K and 8K technology as well as AI-driven applications, consumers’ need for high-performance storage is growing exponentially,” said KyuYoung Lee, Vice President of the Memory Brand Product Biz Team at Samsung Electronics. “The 990 PRO provides an optimal balance of speed, power efficiency and reliability, making it an ideal choice for avid gamers and creative professionals seeking uninterrupted work and play.”

High Performance for an Immersive Gaming Experience

The 990 PRO series, which features Samsung’s newest V-NAND and a new proprietary controller, delivers the greatest speed currently attainable from the PCIe 4.0 interface. The SSD has sequential read and write rates of up to 7,450 MB/s and 6,900 MB/s, respectively, and random read and write speeds of up to 1,400K and 1,550K IOPS. The 990 PRO is particularly well-suited for intense gaming as well as creative and productive workloads, with up to a 55% gain in random performance over the 980 PRO.

High-performance NVMe SSDs are also essential for maximising the benefits of the most recent game console and gaming technology. The 990 PRO, powered by NVMe, provides quicker loading speeds for PCs and consoles, resulting in a more immersive gaming experience. The map loading time was around one second when tested with Forspoken, Luminous Productions’ upcoming action role-playing game that supports the newest game-loading technology, compared to four seconds for a SATA SSD and 28 seconds for a hard disc drive (HDD).

Reliable Thermal Control and Maximum Power Efficiency

Samsung’s newly developed controller, based on a low-power architecture, enhances the SSD’s power efficiency by up to 50% over the 980 PRO. For dependable thermal management, the 990 PRO also has a nickel coating on the controller and a heat spreader label on the drive. Samsung’s Dynamic Thermal Guard technology guarantees that the drive’s temperature remains within a safe range.

The 990 PRO with Heatsink edition adds an extra layer of thermal regulation, while the RGB lights provide more beauty to the drive. Samsung’s 990 PRO is also a good alternative for laptop and desktop upgrades, as well as build-your-own PCs, giving a considerable performance boost while utilising less power for enhanced battery life and thermal control.

The 990 PRO and 990 PRO with Heatsink will be offered in two storage sizes of 1TB and 2TB, respectively, and will be available for purchase at participating Samsung Authorized Dealers countrywide.
