HUAWEI Malaysia today officially announced the launch of its latest member in addition to the flagship Mate product line, HUAWEI Mate 50 Series, priced from RM 3,699 onwards, marking the 10th anniversary of the Mate series’ inception in 2012. The flagship phones, available in three variants, HUAWEI Mate50, HUAWEI Mate50 Pro, and HUAWEI Mate50 Pro Orange Vegan Leather, are the latest performance-driven smartphones with breakthrough technology and innovations that are more powerful than ever.
The symmetrical Space Ring Design and intricate design of the HUAWEI Mate 50 Series represent a significant advancement in smartphone aesthetics. The Mate 50 Series phones feature an Ultra Aperture XMAGE Camera with the first-ever 10-scale adjustable physical aperture and the most versatile photography capabilities seen on a Mate smartphone. The phone’s drop resistance is increased by tenfold thanks to the rock-solid “Kunlun Glass.”
These powerful features are complemented by the EMUI 13 operating system, which debuts on the Mate 50 Series and provides a wide range of seamless smart services. The SuperHub feature, for example, enables seamless data and file transfer between apps and devices, breaking down long-standing barriers that had previously separated different platforms.

Quality craftsmanship and a timeless design
In addition to the iconic symmetry and Space Ring Design of the Mate Series, the HUAWEI Mate 50 Series uses the elegant Clous de Paris step-patterned embossing design for the first time, showcasing a new kind of ordered beauty that’s crafted down to the last detail.
HUAWEI Mate 50 Series phones have two types of rear covers: glass and vegan leather. The glass cover comes in two colours: silver and black, and it gives the phone a distinct, elegant look. The vegan leather version is available in Orange, inspired by the sun’s radiant orange rays.
The HUAWEI “Kunlun Glass” is made up of 10 quadrillion-level nanocrystals as a result of composite ion strengthening, making it more resilient and drop resistant, as confirmed by Switzerland’s SGS’s five-star glass drop resistance certification. The Mate 50 Series phones are the first to receive this certification. HUAWEI Mate 50 Series phones also support IP68-rated water resistance of up to 6 metres underwater, making them suitable for use in wet and dusty environments.
Innovative Ultra Aperture XMAGE Camera
HUAWEI launched its own mobile imaging brand “XMAGE” in July 2022, with the goal of providing consumers with a new shooting paradigm that fuses science with culture and aesthetics with technology in terms of imaging style and shooting experience.
The HUAWEI Mate 50 Series includes a cutting-edge Ultra Aperture XMAGE Camera with a 10-size adjustable physical aperture that incorporates key advances in the optical system, mechanical structure, imaging technology, and image processing. In Auto mode, the smart aperture adjusts the aperture size to match the scene and shooting scenario. When you switch to Professional mode, you can manually adjust the depth of field and blur.
To improve static image shooting, advanced hardware and algorithms are deeply embedded. The Ultra Aperture Camera features an F1.4 large aperture that works in tandem with the XD Fusion Pro image engine and high light intake to optimise image brightness, light and shadow details, and cold and warm comparisons. Even in low-light conditions, night mode captures photos with clearly defined bright and dark regions. Portrait mode uses natural background blurring to separate the subject from their surroundings. The periscope telephoto camera has a zoom range of up to 200x, allowing you to see scenes from the great beyond.
The wide-angle macro camera magnifies details from tiny worlds, presenting millimetre-level strands and dew droplets with exceptional clarity. The HUAWEI Mate 50 Series also supports macro video shooting and macro picture-in-picture (PiP) to accurately convey moving scenes.
Interactions that are streamlined and powerful
The HUAWEI Mate 50 Series is the first device to run EMUI 13, which simplifies daily interactions with one-touch navigation.
SuperStorage removes duplicate files invisibly and compresses infrequently used apps. This saves up to 20 GB of space (on a phone with 256 GB of ROM), freeing up space for the plethora of photos and videos that today’s users capture. SuperHub enables users to temporarily store images, documents, and text while sharing them in batches via free and simple app-to-app transfers.
The HUAWEI Mate 50 Series includes cutting-edge technology that significantly improves performance. Once the battery level drops to 1%, an innovative Low-battery Emergency Mode will be activated, allowing the HUAWEI Mate 50 series to extend standby time by three hours, or 12 minutes of call time.
Complete privacy features provide complete peace of mind. The HUAWEI Mate 50 Series also supports Image Privacy Protection, which means that when users share images, the phone will automatically erase sensitive information such as location and time.
