Xiaomi never stops at upgrading and refreshing their devices, especially coming towards the end of the year, Xiaomi comes out with something that impresses even better in this year’s flagship. Earlier this year, the Xiaomi 12 series has already proven that they do have a good lineups and sets a pretty good pricing and specs, but the Xiaomi 12T series is even better.

To start, they announced the Xiaomi 12T Pro and Xiaomi 12T, the Pro represents the top SOC from Qualcomm and the 12T came with MediaTek SOC. Both are carrying flagship processor, just from different brands.

What do we have here for review is the Xiaomi 12T Pro, and lets take a dive in on this review.

Unboxing

Inside the box you will find the following

  • Xiaomi 12T Pro Phone
  • 120W Fast Charging Adaptor
  • USB A to C Cable
  • Translucent Casing
  • User Manual/QSG/Warranty Statement

As usual no Audio Jack converter or earphones, but its pretty much easy to get it now a days.

Design

The Xiaomi 12T Pro is pretty much follows the base outlook and design from the Xiaomi 12 series when you glance on it. The frame is entirely made of plastic including the back panel, however it is a solid hold and grip when held on it with beautiful curves and sides. Having said this is still a beautiful looking phone with a larger camera island size that is crucial since it has a larger camera sensor, and it is slowly becoming common to have camera island bumps on every phone we see or for us, review. Over all we find it sleek and I don’t mind the matte touch to it, which means, no fingerprint smudges.

As the usual for a Xiaomi flagship level smartphone, both loudspeakers are located on the top and bottom, with a USB C port for charging, a dual sim card tray, an infra red sensor for controlling your home electronic appliances, 2 microphones for communicating and noise cancellation.

The weight of the phone is rated at 205 Grams with 8.6mm of thickness, which is still on par and comparable with most smartphones and to me, still it is a right size and weight balance for the most part.

Display & Audio

  • 120Hz Dynamic Refresh Rate (60Hz, 90Hz, 120Hz)
  • AMOLED 68B color display
  • Dolby Vision & Dolby Audio
  • 446PPI with HDR10+
  • Wide Color Gamut support
  • SGS Low Visual Fatigue Certification

Display wise, the Xiaomi 12T Pro came equipped with a 6.67 inch, AMOLED display with over 68B colors, Dolby Vision, which translate to great color reproduction and vibrant on the display. Since it is a high resolution display, it is also capable of maximize the brightness boost up to 900nits under bright sunlight which makes it viewable in any environment or areas, when you are in a darker area, viewing is still comfortable with good blue light protection that is ease on the eyes. Furthermore you have HDR10 support and all round ambient light sensor that intelligently adjust the display. Other than that this is also a Widewine certified L1 with full support for streaming apps such as Netflix and Disney Plus, combining with Dolby Audio that brings full visual and audio experience that is pleasing especially when we are testing it in a room environment. The speakers sounded great whether you are on music or movies with loudness clear and balanced with good treble but slightly lack of bass.

Camera

This is the part where the great things begin, the Xiaomi 12T Pro came equipped with a main rear 200MP s5khp1 ISOCELL HP1 sensor from Samsung with OIS and PDAF, followed by a 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro lens.

  • 200MP Sample
  • 50MP sample

*Above photo shown is 200MP and 50MP images

With the help of the main camera sensor, this phone can capture images up to 50MP or 200MP in UltraHD mode, which is actually a 4 in1 or 16 in 1 binning process (depending on the mode set) which is an advantage when taking photo in a well lit outdoor and indoor environment that captures more details in an image. So if you wanted to zoom or crop images, quality loss is at a very minimal level with Xiaomi’s ProCut, you can crop and modify your original 200MP photo into up to five different aspect ratio and sizes. Besides that it does a good job during night time as well thanks to the camera app AI that is able to automatically selects the right mode based on the software. The results at most of the time and places came out pretty accurate with good dynamic range while each photo after snap processing times seems to be quick. The front camera is powered by a 20MP lens with HDR and panorama support, which takes photo and videos decently and I have no issues encountered so far.

Above is some shots varies from portrait, normal, auto, selfie, night time, wide angle.

For video recording you can record up to 8K at 24FPS, which is favorite among enthusiast content creators that wanted high resolution captures, however you will lose some stability, just make sure you have steady hands while moving. However if you are recording on 4K 60FPS and below, stabilization is there and the results are amazing even moving at walking pace. Upon that you get dual video recording as well for those who loves VLogging.

Performance & Benchmarks

The Xiaomi 12T Pro came with the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen1 Octa Core processor with 8GB/12GB RAM and starts with 256GB of storage, which is an upgrade from the previous year Xiaomi 11T Pro that uses Snapdragon 888. You get a reasonable 5000MAh battery also which during our test will last you a working day and slightly more. With the enhancement of Android 12 and MIUI 13, all of the intelligent app and battery management is there to keep your phone going with new fixes and addon on themes, visual UI outlook and better camera AI enhancements. Gaming can get abit warm at times but dissipation is fast for normalizing temperatures with an improved vapor chamber cooling. If you ever ran on low battery, having power saver mode will get you another 2 hours or recharge it with Xiaomi’s 120W fast charger which will get you empty to full in about 25 minutes average with the phone still turning on.

Above is the benchmarks, which is still standing impressive for today’s needs for daily use, slightly intensive work, multitasking, multimedia and of course, social media and a few gaming sessions that you will enjoy with fast Adreno GPU graphics inside.
