The T7 Shield Portable Solid State Drive (PSSD) from Samsung is a new external storage device that offers exceptional performance and reliability in a credit card-sized design. The T7 Shield is the newest member of the Samsung T7 Portable SSD family, which also includes the T7, a daily driver with incredibly fast speeds in a sleek design, and the T7 Touch, a CES award-winning PSSD with a built-in fingerprint sensor for enhanced data security.

IP65-Rated Durability

The T7 Shield is Samsung’s most durable PSSD to date, making it ideal for outdoor content creators or travellers who require a data-rich experience without fear of data loss due to exposure to the elements or life’s mishaps. Samsung designed the T7 Shield from the inside out to be shock-resistant from drops of up to three metres and IP65-certified as dustproof and water resistant. Despite its new rugged design, the T7 Shield is small and light, weighing only 98 grams.

Exceptional Performance

The T7 Shield has a read speed of 1,050 MB/s and a write speed of 1,000 MB/s, the fastest transfer speeds currently available based on the USB 3.2 Gen2 standard. It is roughly twice as fast as the T5 and up to 9.5 times faster than external hard disk drives (HDDs).

Samsung has also optimised the inside and outside of the product, changing the surface material and improving the software in the T7 Shield, to address performance degradation and overheating when transferring large files. Because of this change, there is no performance degradation even when moving 2TB files at once, and heat generation is reduced, which helps to alleviate any inconvenience that consumers may experience. This allows it to transmit data consistently and without performance degradation, even when performing data-intensive, continuous tasks like high-quality video recording, editing, encoding, and rendering. This eliminates concerns about inconsistency in drive performance.

Wide Compatibility and Strong Security

Samsung’s T7 Shield, which is designed to work across multiple devices, can store a large number of pictures, games, and 4K and 8K videos on a PC, Mac, Smartphone (Android), or game console. Furthermore, the T7 Shield has enhanced security (256-bit AES, Advanced Encryption Standard) with hardware encryption, ensuring that consumer data is safe even if the T7 shield is lost. It also includes access to Samsung’s Magician Software, which allows users to manage the drive easily.

Eco-Friendly Packaging

The T7 Shield, like Samsung’s other portable SSD lineups, uses one-third the tray packaging of previous generations while minimising greenhouse gas emissions during production through production efficiency.
