Samsung today launched its One UI 5 open beta programme, which will initially be available on the Galaxy S22 series (Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra) in the United States, Germany, and South Korea, with additional releases planned in the coming months in other regions. As part of Samsung’s ongoing commitment to providing the most up-to-date mobile experiences to as many users as possible, One UI 5 includes a number of new customization, security, and accessibility features.

Tailored Look and Feel
The One UI 5 update adds new ways for users to customise their smartphone experience, such as an expanded set of colour options for a more personalised look. Users can now choose from up to 16 preset colour themes based on their wallpaper, as well as 12 additional colour options for their home screens, icons, and quick panels, for a customised look and feel.
Users can further customise their home screens by stacking widgets of the same size in a single location, which saves space and creates a cleaner, more organised appearance.
One UI 5 also includes an easier way to customise notifications across applications to help you stay focused on what’s important. Users can now easily block notifications from specific apps, allowing them to see only what is relevant to them.
Enhanced Language and Sound Settings
With reorganised menus that provide easy access to all ringtone volumes and vibration intensities, One UI 5 streamlines the process of changing sound and vibration settings. For the first time, Galaxy users can customise their preferred language for various apps. Users can easily select which language will be used for each app in Settings, whether they are multilingual or just learning a new language.
More New Features
Other new features in the update include improved camera capabilities, security resources, and more accessibility tools, making the Galaxy experience even better for everyone.
With a new icon in Pro and Pro Video mode that offers useful tips and tricks on how to use the various lenses, features, and controls, users can more seamlessly capture high-quality photos and video. Furthermore, a more responsive zoom bar allows for faster close-ups and makes it easier to focus on the subject with just one hand.
With One UI 5, a new dashboard allows users to view their phone’s security status, identify security issues, and recommend solutions.
The update also includes more accessibility options to help users interact with their devices. The Magnifier feature allows users to see and read more clearly on their devices, while various types of spoken assistance – such as audio descriptions of videos and speak keyboard input aloud – help users navigate and use devices more smoothly. Other exciting new features will be introduced throughout the Beta programme to provide users with the best possible experience.
