OnePlus is one brand that surprises us, not too long after the launch of the OnePlus Nord 2T, they unveiled a true flagship from their brand at the same time refreshes it from their previous flagship, and we just got a unit from them to review to find out what’s within it.

Contents (Unboxing)

The OnePlus 10T 5G comes in a white color box. Upon unboxing you will get the following as below

  • OnePlus 10T 5G Phone
  • USB C to C charging cable
  • 150W SUPERVOOC power adapter
  • SIM Ejector
  • Pre-applied screen protector installed on the screen of the phone
  • User Manual & Quick Start Guide

One has to take note that the packaging in the box does not come with 3.5mm headphone jack or converter in the box. However you have the blazing fast 150W charger with USB C to C cable included in the box, which is great as you get one of the fastest charger available in the market (so far).

Color Choices

The OnePlus 10T 5G comes in two colors, Moonstone Black & Jade Green. The color that we got for the unboxing is the Jade Green, which bring in the back Gorilla Glass 5 glossy lamination with a clear OnePlus logo etched in the middle with sides following the same color, giving it and impression of a seamless body combined together. Do take note that for the local availability online, you will only get to purchase the Jade Green color.

Design

The OnePlus 10T 5G resembles a design from the OnePlus 10 Pro, where even looking at the camera bump area looks pretty much almost the same, which is really not a surprise to me as this is still OnePlus way of expressing that this is their flagship signature is balance from size, form factor and weight. Starting from the back of the device it shows the whole smooth and gloss glass like appearance to it, which is elegant and matches well with the island camera setup which is surrounded by a standard black color finishing, this overall showing that the device is bringing in powerful feel that you can carry it everywhere.

Upon that, towards the right you will get just a power button while towards the left here comes the pair of the volume buttons, over the bottom you have the SIM tray, microphone, USB C port for data and charging, and a down firing speaker. Top there you can see there is a noise cancelling microphone. Of course over the front screen is protected with Gorilla Glass 5 with a speakerphone. Overall weight is approximately 200 Grams, just nice for a flagship phone that houses powerful hardware.

Display & Audio

This beast of a phone comes with a 6.7 Inch Fluid AMOLED Display with a dynamic refresh rates up to 120Hz that is further accompanied with Wide Color Gamut and HDR10+. With a 20:9 aspect ratio, it does give out good viewing angle with good brightness contrasts even under bright sunlight. Since the display is wide, enjoyment on viewing, gaming, watching a couple of series from Netflix is nice good color representation with FullHD resolution that is L1 Widewine CDM certified. If you are person that game a lot and needed much response rate, the touch sampling rate is 360Hz, which is highly suitable for FPS genre.

Audio side, it is supported with dual stereo speaker over the speakerphone and downwards firing speakers that resulted in immersive audio by Dolby Atmos which also have profiles that users can select from, whether with or without earbuds or USB C earphones.

Camera

Now over to the camera of the OnePlus 10T 5G. Rear side you get a main 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor with PDAF and OIS, followed by a 8MP ultrawide and 2mp macro lens, with dual LED flash. During day time, its all good either portrait, auto or auto HDR photo, I mean the IMX766 sensor is known to perform well even you are taking pictures automatically, which is great for those who don’t want to tinker things manually. Night time wise, as long the angle and the environment has some minimal amount of light, the AI will do it’s job with Nightscape 2.0 that will analyze it and bring the final piece to a more rich, vivid photos. The 32MP wide selfie shooter does a formidable job as well with it’s capability of taking wide angle and portrait shots with clarity and good color reproduction.

A few sample shots were taken with a mix of 10x digital zoom, normal, 50MP and automatic shots taken which you can take a look as above, and even leaving the settings to default will get the most of the enhancement and good quality out of it from both rear and front camera.

On video recording you get support up 4K at 60FPS or 1080P at 60FPS, both of it actually records at a accurate fast paced 60FPS even at 4K resolution, however there is still very minor stutters expected when you are moving the device too fast, otherwise if you are moving steadily, it does produce a good quality and cinematic video out of it.

Performance & Interface

Specs wise, the OnePlus 10T 5G is powered by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Octa core SOC with 16GB/256GB memory and storage space respectively. Now 16GB RAM is quite huge for a phone and you can also extend the memory with RAM extension up to 5GB, enabling users to open up a lot of apps or games. The OS is powered by Android 12 with OxygenOS 12.1 that carries customized enhancement and updates for the phone while retain most of the AOSP features intact with lesser bloatware. This make it much friendlier when comes to switching over to this phone easier and took lesser time to familiarize with the phone. The usual such as 5G support, VOLTE, WiFi 6 Dual band, NFC and Bluetooth 5 is all readily available with OnePlus mention of support of firmware updates, enhancement, security updates and fixes up to 3 years, which is by the way, the support is also expanded to the Nord 2T including the OxygenOS 13 update coming real soon.

Over to the gaming side, it is best to be set around medium mixed with high on the graphical settings which is the sweet spot for the SOC and GPU, where games like Genshin Impact and Mobile Legends for example will just run with a very minimal stutters, yet this will also maintain the temperature and battery life to last longer during gameplay. Idle temps are recorded around 30 to 33 Celsius over surface.

Benchmarks

Benchmark performance is indicates a good strong score as a flagship phone, which translates to a good work, games and social companion. Since it houses a flagship processor with huge amount of memory in it, switching apps and games back and forth will enable users to resume and switch tasks quickly without a hitch.

Battery performance wise, you will get around 13 hours of it, a mix of calls, surfing, email, streaming, and a few Mobile Legends matches . Turn on the battery saving mode under 20% will get you around extra 4.5 hours of conservative usage. Charging up with 150w SuperVOOC adaptor can get you from empty to fully charged in less than 40min with 4800mAh capacity battery in the phone.

The OnePlus 10T 5G marks the return of their brand flagship phone that focuses not just on the processing power, but with the well thought camera optics and a balanced battery capacity that you can use, play and work for the whole day.
