The Huawei MateBook D16 is a carry over from it’s previous year design with some improvement that can be spotted. The first being the 16-inch large screen, 16:10 golden aspect ratio and 90% screen-to-body ratio, providing a wider view on all purposes. This also overall brings in a total weight of just 1.7KG wide body full sized white LED backlighted keyboard with numpad and 4 specific keys below the Power/Fingerprint combo button, which the 4 keys marked as calculator, search, window arrangement and camera enable disable functions. Slightly away from the touchpad, you have 4 microphone that supports clear voice communications and noise cancellation.
Back to the ports arrangement, on the left there is 2 USB C ports that is used for charging, data and DisplayPort expansion, A HDMI 2.0 port and a headphone/microphone combo jack. Over to the right side you will get 2 USB Type A port for standard USB connection and USB legacy devices support. This makes the MateBook D16 another suitable candidate for expanding displays and all types of USB certified devices at the same time.
As usual you will also get an exceptional quality FullHD webcam for all your conferencing purposes that supports focusing on multiple faces over a single session.
Display and Audio
Both the display and audio portion is the main strength of the MateBook D16, the 16:10 1200P IPS display brings in a broader display, more viewing angle that coupled with wide color gamut, bringing in vibrant color and contrast that ease the eyes with blue light filter built in to it. The only wish I had is, I wish it has an OLED display which really makes it compelling but thats just the missing portion. From the audio side, it is real loud with multiple profile that can be selected to suit your needs via the PC Manager app.

As standard for all HUAWEI Laptops, the D16 came with Huawei PC Manager, where its a one stop App for things such as updating drivers and BIOS, optimizing your system, connect with other HUAWEI branded devices such as the MatePad or the P50 Series lineup and Huawei FreeBuds, just to name a few to keep the device in sync and easily switch whenever you need. Apart from that by connecting to the PC Manager, you are also able to connect your Huawei Smartphone to sync files and control the phone’s screen. This has always been Huawei’s vision on bridging all the device together.
Overall I would say that the MateBook D16 is a performer and also able to play a few eSports and Indie games without much of a hassle, coupled with the 12 Gen processor, your all heavier office work and editing can be pretty much accomplished with this laptop with good inbuilt cooling system that dissipates heat fast as well.
