A Fashionable SmartWatch suited for all workout needs

Smartwatch comes in many sizes and features, some may be just wearing it as an accessory, some may use it for workout, and others may use it as a casual wear on most occasion, but the most important aspects of a smartwatch is keeping track of your notification, workout and health for you. Today we will review the Huawei Watch Fit 2, a smartwatch that fits and tracks your daily life.

Design & Display

The Huawei Watch Fit 2 just weighs around 37 Grams including strap with its surrounding body of the watch covered by chrome metal like colors, durable polymer with good strap material which wearing it towards my wrist feels lightweight and comfortable yet durable and stylish. Based on the watch size, fitting it to my wrist is just nice. The strap portion is easily removable and easy to maintain, you can just wipe the whole watch and strap with a soft cloth and you are ready again to strap it back to your wrist. The unit that we are reviewing here is all in Isle Blue color which is sleek and practically just looks real nice to me.

Over to the display side, the Huawei Watch Fit 2 Active that we are reviewing here features a 1.74mm AMOLED display that is vibrant, clear and large on the viewing estate with curves on all sides. Compared to most squared sized Smartwatch, this one is sized longer giving it advantage of fitting more icons and information on the screen.

There is only one button on the watch facing towards the right side of the watch, which functions as a HOME and MENU button which to my usage, this is what a SmartWatch should be, and the rest can be tapped thru the screen by swiping left or right to return to the main app menu. Below the button there is a microphone and speaker which allows you to answer calls and play music thru the Watch itself. It comes in three color choices, Sakura Pink, Midnight Black, Isle Blue. Other than that, the Huawei Watch Fit 2 still follows the design from the previously last generation Huawei Watch Fit.

Features and Tracking

The Huawei Watch Fit 2 Active has a few standout features as below :

• All day heart monitoring with SpO2 with HUAWEI TruScreen 5.0
  Enables the watch to monitor heart rate with blood oxygen levels tracking even during active and rest/sleep mode, which also includes active stress monitoring level
• Over 97 workout modes
  The Watch feature many workout modes which suits most exercises needs such as Yoga, HIIT, Aerobics, Jogging, Walking, Running and many more. All of the modes can be configured and selected with the Huawei health app from Google Play, Huawei AppGallery and Apple App Store.
• Standalone GPS and Compass support
  Huawei Watch Fit 2 features support for built in standalone GPS and compass, which allowed accurate real time outdoor activity tracking and movement with the support from Huawei’s Petal Maps.
• Scientific sleep monitoring
  Active sleep monitoring support with silent active pattern monitoring which allows the Health App to suggest better sleeping patterns for the user.
• Long Battery Life
  According to Huawei, Watch Fit 2 is able to last up to 7 days with a single full charge under heavy usage, while up to 10 days if it is under normal casual usage.

Software and Connectivity

The Huawei Watch Fit 2 Active runs on Huawei’s HarmonyOS 2.x which supports both iOS and Android Smartphone. Setting it up is not hard, all you need is to download Huawei Health App from Google Play Store or Apple App Store, install it, turn on Bluetooth on both the phone and watch and follow the steps to connect together. Phone compatibility is well supported for most recent Android 5 devices and above and IPhone with IOS 9 and above.

Once the connection is established via the Huawei Health App, you can use all features of the watch such as receiving notifications from messages, calls, alerts and so on. Besides that since the watch has GPS, weather can info can be displayed since the sync is stable and consistent with your Smartphone that you have paired with. If you are using a Huawei Phone, setting up and account may not be required as the app uses the same Huawei ID to connect from it, but if you are coming from any other Android or IOS phones, then you have to register the Huawei ID for new users. All connectivity will be done via Bluetooth connection with BLE. A single charge thru the supplied magnetic USB cable will get you around up to 10 days of usage, which provides a constant tracking for before recharging it. To my personal preference, I am good with charging once every 6 days since I am turning almost all the features to constant monitoring when experiencing with this Watch. To me this Watch provides most of the features that I need, whether you are a heavy fitness or a casual user, like me.

Verdict and thoughts

The Huawei Watch Fit 2 Active is an all in one featured packed SmartWatch equipped with all round fitness needs, which on the other hand also fits on most casual users and all category of fitness sports users as a watch that is well packed with all the modes available yet the price falls under mid tier which can be a good choice to the alternative Google Wear OS watches available at a much higher price range. Even if one cant use all the fitness features, but the function is there and it is ready to be used which I find it a great choice towards everyone. Currently the watch is sold at just RM599
