Setup and Experience
ASUS TUF Gaming Capture Box FHD 120 offers a painless setup, all you need to do is plug your console, USB C to your Laptop/PC, and optionally if you wish, plug it to your TV with the Passthrough HDMI. Over to the PC or Laptop, you will need to install either Streamlabs OBS or OBS software and start your overlay configuration, which if you are a beginner, I suggest using Streamlabs will be better as it offers overlay, theme download and sync via any of your social media account, and this makes it even better as you can login and carry your settings on any PC or laptop. If you want to setup your microphone recording support with the capture box, you can do that as well, or you can use your PC’s microphone jack, its totally up to the user.
Now to the ASUS Video Capture Console, this is actually essential to be installed for configuring your RGB lights according to indicators required especially when streaming, without looking back on your main OBS screen to identify status of streaming, whether its ready mode or standing by, or even signal status, while you can also control HDCP protection status, firmware update and dedicated headset volume support.
Now towards the fun part, the capture via OBS is set to 3800 on bitrate and we tested the recording, we find that the best for 1080P at 60FPS capped over our Nintendo Switch and the quality is good with a very low latency while recording and display passthrough standby mode, sound quality is capture at 44.1Khz with good quality as well on both sides which also an important part when streaming towards multiple social channel such as Facebook Gaming and Youtube Gaming Livestream, so far we do not encountered any obstacles, just note that OBS video bitrate is based on your PC specifications, so users have to play around with the numbers and get the right one. We included a recorded sample as above for reference.
