Design
When it comes to looking at the glance of the phone design, it carries the reminiscence signature looks of the recently on the market HONOR X9 5G, the minute you look at it you will definitely know this is an HONOR product with the rear camera ring wide design known as the Eye of Muse. You will also notice that the build quality is sturdy and well done there with no sharp edges over its candybar form factor that brings in the premium feel and easy to take care if there is dirt or smudges, just wipe it off with soft cloth will do the job fine. Dropping and splashes is further protected with it’s IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
As we continue on the right hand side, there is a volume up and down button and a power button, while the top houses a microphone, speaker and infrared which can be used to control your electronic devices such as TV or set top box. Over to the bottom of the phone there is one microphone, one USB C port, Dual SIM slots and a bottom speaker. All of the phone sides are made of plastic with chrome finish to it. Over to the camera design, the similar color tone applies to the side of the phone and the bottom/top part as well. Since there is no 3.5mm audio jack, the HONOR Magic4 Pro does not come with any converters, but you can easily purchase it now a days at any phone accessories shop.
The HONOR Magic4 Pro 5G comes in three colors, Cyan, Gold and Black. The Color that we are reviewing is the Black color, which is definitely the most common of all and the safest choice of all, which makes it suitable for any occasion, anytime.
Display & Audio
Over to the display side, the HONOR Magic4 Pro 5G is powered by a quite huge sized 6.81 Inch FHD+ 120Hz LTPO OLED adaptive curved HONOR FullView Display screen with IMAX Enhanced that brings in 94% screen to body ratio with good touch accuracy during typing, scrolling, gaming and movie viewing. This also reduces eye strain with its 1920Hz PWM dimming. Color representation is well accurate in most of the conditions with good clarity. Depending on your daily usage and just a handful of games does support up to 120FPS gameplay. On top of that you will enjoy one of the good displays available with streaming applications such as YouTube and Netflix with Widevine L1 certification that grants the Full HD resolution streaming. Audio wise, turning on full maximum volume can be loud with it’s dual speaker setup that is further enhanced with DTS:X Ultra Sound Effects stereo amplifier.
Camera
The HONOR Magic4 Pro 5G rear camera island portion comes with one 50MP wide camera, one 50MP ultra-wide angle camera, 64MP periscope telephoto lens followed by a dual LED flash with EIS, OIS and 3D TOF Depth Sensor. Pictures taken are close to the environment matching with details captured properly whether it is in automatic mode, Aperture mode or manual focal mode with certain exception where sometimes the color softness may be present which all you need to do is adjust and re-shoot again. In fact if you wish to shoot all in automatic, the AI will determine the environment and adjust to the best for you. For evening and night shots, the results were acceptable with good amount of lights and shadows represented. The selfie images are bright and good during day time as well which is powered by a 12MP wide angle lens with the same 3D TOF Depth Sensor.
A few sample shots were taken over different modes as above for reference. A sample of 20x zoom, normal, Hi-Res and automatic shots taken, with some noise encountered over certain images and softness depending on the environment.
On video recording you get support up to 4K at 60FPS, stutters are visible while recording but it’s very minor with good amount details and brightness during recording with zooming in and out. Dual video mode is also supported which you can capture both front and rear recording at the same time. Such feature is great for VLoggers and YouTubers that be able to take the advantage. Above is a sample of the video recorded with the rear camera setup.
