Sharp Malaysia and Yayasan Guru Malaysia Berhad (YGMB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enable teachers across Malaysia in adopting digital classroom learning through its Smart Classroom Solution training programmes.
Mr. Ting Yang Chung, Managing Director of Sharp Malaysia, and Dato’ Wan Munadi Wan Mamat, Chief Executive Officer of YGMB, signed the MoU. Mr. Yoshihiro Hashimoto, Senior Executive Managing Officer and Head of Asia Business of Sharp Corporation Japan, and Tuan Haji Aminudin bin Adam, Chairman of YGMB, were there during the ceremony. The ceremony was also attended by Puan Maznah Binti Abu Bakar, Director of the Ministry of Education’s Educational Resources and Technology Division.
“Sharp Malaysia strives to leverage its advanced technology and continue to work with Yayasan Guru Malaysia Berhad (YGMB) to enable digital classroom learning for students and teachers nationwide. We are collaborating with YGMB to implement Smart Classroom Solution training programmes that aim to nurture and prepare national school teachers for a more enhanced teaching and learning process,” said Mr. Ting Yang Chung, Managing Director of Sharp Malaysia.
Sharp’s Smart Classroom Solution allows teachers and students to engage in interactive and better online teaching as well as hybrid learning. The training session will show teachers how to effectively engage students with Sharp’s interactive whiteboard (papan pintar). This would also enable teachers at national schools to implement new digital classroom solutions.
“We believe that we are able to elevate the standard of teaching by equipping teachers with the knowledge and training that will help them to embrace the 21st century classroom teaching – a seamless, innovative, and resourceful teaching,” Ting added
YGMB’s Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Wan Munadi Wan Mamat, remarked on the collaboration, stating that Sharp’s training programmes will help teachers acquire digital teaching skills, that will enhance the quality of their teaching.
Dato’ Wan Munadi Wan Mamat added: “Sharp’s support towards Malaysia’s education system would make it possible for schools throughout the whole nation to be improved and at elevated standards. We look forward to more alliances to achieve transformation and support the education reform.”
Mr. Yoshihiro Hashimoto, Senior Executive Managing Officer of Sharp Corporation Japan, said during the event that he believes the education sector requires significant transformation, and that educators demand smart solutions to enable online teaching and hybrid learning.
“In these unprecedented times, the importance of digital transformation in the educational environment has become an urgent matter in most schools. By leveraging the latest technology and innovating smart solutions, students will be allowed to learn in different ways and widen their horizons beyond a traditional classroom.”
“We believe that it is our social responsibility to collaborate with educators to ensure our children remain in an effective learning environment while no child is left behind,” he added.
Sharp also hopes to encourage teachers to develop innovative and engaging materials which can be shared among teaching communities as part of the contribution. Sharp and YGMB will continue working with teachers to help them improve their digital skills and provide high-quality teaching materials.
Sharp Malaysia has equipped SMK Dato’ Perdana Kelantan with the Smart Classroom Solution to provide flexible hybrid learning, bringing lessons to life and allowing students to improve their digital learning experiences.
